Kind of wondering what association is hosting this event? What are the rules for kids that play travel ball then playing 'all-stars" after travel is over. Dont most "all-star" events not allow travel teams? |

It is a Dizzy Dean Tournament, so a 'travel team' cannot play, but an 'All-Star' team can. To be on an 'All star' team you have to play XX amount of games in the rec league you are representing. Not sure how it works exactly as I tried to read through the rules, but we definatly ran into at least 1 travel player we know for sure. How you ask? He told us while he was in the batter's circle! Hard to miss him, he was tall and built, and our pitcher accidentally threw a 3-2 pitch right down the middle (instead of outside) and he launched it on top to the roof of the concession stand. Oops!

While the rules clearly define who is and isn't elegible, the rules are nearly impossible to inforce. For instance - a player who misses a rec game to play for a travel team is supposed to be inelegible, however, how do you inforce it if the leagues are not honest about it? Our team played in the Invitational tournament and faced a team that has had the same players for several years and is headed to Cooperstown. Multiple 6' + kids, Also teams are supposedly not allowed to begin practicing until May 15th, and I heard from many parents that their teams have been practicing since much before, but how do you inforce those type of rules? |

nwgDad, I am sure you are talking about my guy. The Fannin team had 4-5 players who didn't qualify for their team because they didn't play enough rec games. All of the guys on that team from the Diablos (3) played a full Rec schedule. How do I know....They asked and I let them miss games and practices to do so. |

same final 3 as the District 4 tourny, different final 2, though, I think NYO will take Sandy Springs Storm in the final, but I'd bet it will be a good game to watch. |

It's finally over and NYO won it, of course Sandy Springs Storm beat them once, but they had to beat them twice. Great job to both teams! |
