Need a few more players. Now everyone can afford Travel Baseball ! The CATS will be a Team that will have financial aid from the community. A Golf Tournament Oct 3 is scheduled as a Fundraiser. The parents of players will pay ($10-$500) according to their Gross Family yearly income. Players must reside in Alpharetta, Roswell, Canton, Woodstock, Hopewell, Milton, Holly Springs, Jasper, Ballground, Waleska, Hickory Flat, Macedonia, Kennesaw or Acworth.

Jim Thomas and Darrell Campbell, both of the Hickory Flat community, has a sincere desire to help young athletes in Cherokee County that have the desire to further develop their baseball skills to hopefully play at a higher level. Here is the underlying problem. Many kids are left behind simply because the parents can’t afford the costs of allowing the child to participate in “travel ball”. CATS stand for” Commitment Attitude Talent Skills This order is very important to us.
#1 Commitment -.100% committed in order for this program to be successful. #2 Attitude - Everyone must maintain an attitude that magnifies positive thoughts #3 Talent – There must be a certain level of athletic talent in each player and coach on the team. #4 Skills – We will be teaching the skills needed for each player to advance in his level of play.
Darrell had the opportunity to play baseball in college (Full scholarship) and even had a stint playing minor league baseball for the Cincinnati Reds organization. Jim has had a love for baseball . Jim has become very knowledgeable about youth baseball by his involvement in the last 10 years as a Tournament Director for approximately sixty tournaments for 6 to 12 yr. olds. He has also coached several teams up through High School summer ball. . The indoor facility is equipped with a full size batting cage and two indoor pitching mounds. Jim and Darrell will both be involved in the coaching and instruction to the kids at no cost. Cherokee CATS. Inc. is a non-profit corporation that will become the vehicle for funds to be established to support the expenses incurred in fielding this baseball travel team. Practices and games: Field Practices will be at least 1.5hr long twice a week, sometimes 3 times a week March-June .Winter indoor workouts once or twice a week in January-February The season will include 35-40 games in the spring/summer, primarily played in tournaments within an hour’s drive from our home field. Try-outs-/workouts Players will try out for the team in the Fall (late August-Sept) and play a light fall schedule, participate in winter workouts indoors and then spring field practices starting in March.
