Our son is looking to move up to travel ball this summer to a AAA team; feedback from a top major coach is good talent, should start in AAA, additional travel ball reps and polish to be really ready for major ball.
He is a good size lefty and a "true" switch-hitter playing primarily P, 1B, and Catcher. He has been playing competitive middle school ball (Dunwoody Senior - B Division) this spring and has been handling both the 13U-14U heat and off-speed stuff from the big 8th graders well.
Raw foot speed is not his forte but comments from others include a really good hitter, solid first baseman, very good baseball awareness, very coachable, and a leader on the field. Locates well, has a really good move to first (great to be a lefty) and development of a knuckle curve is underway.
We are looking for a team that he can both help and that will help him move to the next level as he is very motivated about baseball; something on the north side of town; North Fulton / East Cobb would be preferred; open to others if the right fit.
He has a solid foundation to be ready for travel ball and examples of second nature baseball awareness include: batting - looking for a pitch, getting signs, situational/directional hitting (moving runners), bunts, etc. pitching/infield - holding runners on, pick offs, dropped third strikes, bunt coverage, first/third situations, etc. outfield - proper setup, cutoffs, backing up plays, etc.
