We are looking to fill 3 possibly 4 open roster spots. If we can fill out our roster with 15u players the we will do so. However, in order to fill pitching slots and gain players with a little more experience, we may look at playing 15u/16u and adding a couple of 16u players.
We are very excited about our upcoming season, because we have a great group of young men who are also talented ballplayers. We, as coaches, are committed to providing a quality competitive experience for our team.
We offer a cost effective alternative to showcase teams that cost thousands of dollars to play and carry rosters of 15 - 17 players. For many, these teams offer a huge cost per inning played with limited return. All of our players will play the majority of innings and all players rotate. We do not carry POs.
Our primary goal in relation to baseball is to develop players for high school baseball. We believe the components to achieve this goal are attitude, effort and execution! Make no mistake, we will be competitive, and are passionate about the game of baseball, but that is not the ultimate goal. The ultimate goal will always be developing young men into baseball players, but more importantly, into persons of character. We believe that baseball is about the journey and not the destination.
FALL SEASON
We will attempt to begin fall practices August 17 and will practice on the weekend with an occasional practice thrown in during the week for good measure.
We will practice weekly and play 4 Sunday tournaments. Two in September. Two in October. And we may possibly add 1 traditional tournament weather permitting.
SPRING SEASON
We will play 10 scheduled scrimmages (all at our home park(s)) and play 8-10 tournaments with a 4 day tournament to conclude the season in July.
We will begin practicing in January weather permitting. Scheduled practices will begin end of February. We will schedule a minimum 2 practices per week. We will schedule scrimmage games preferably on the weekends the month of March and April. We will play tournaments at a minimum of every other weekend beginning in May and look to schedule at least 1 tournament in March, 1 tournament in April, 3 in May, 3 in June and the End of the season tournament in July. The balance will be played based on the available schedule.
HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULES
We will schedule games around the North Forsyth High School baseball schedule for those who make their respective teams. Should we have enough players available in a given weekend, we will play baseball. Players on the high school teams are expected to attend practice, schedule permitting, but will not go through full workouts if already on the field that day.
END OF THE SEASON TOURNAMENT
Our final tournament of the season will be the Dodgertown Historic Independence Day Classic, July 1 - July 4 Vero Beach, FL. We try to choose a tournament in a location that is family friendly, has a significance with regard to baseball and will offer a memorable experience. While a long drive, it is affordable, a 4 day tournament, 5 game guarantee, and pristine facility. An added bonus if you like the Dodgers and Dodger history.
