It will be interesting to see how all the new teams coming from Dizzy Dean compete their 1st year in kid pitch against the Yarddogs, Yankees, Longhorns and all the other top teams in the area. I know three teams should be very solid defensively - Acworth (World Series Champs), Oregon Park (District 2 Champs)and Wills Park (State Champs) but you never know until they see live pitching if they will be able to compete. Should be fun! |

Could have been Sandy Plains: District 4 Champ State 4th Place World Series runner-up
beat Wills Park twice beat Oregon Park twice, lost once beat Acworth once, lost thrice
No travel team though and lost players who will strengthen Longhorns, Acworth & Wills Park.

I have to think that the teams that played kid pitch last year will have a big advantage in the fall. The Longhorns picked up a smart fast kid from Sandy Plains and added a couple of other good players and I believe a couple of good players joined Acworth from Sandy Plains which should make them very cometitive. I'm sure the Yarddogs will be right there and the Yankees as well.
I thought Sandy Plains was going to have travel at 9 this year but I guess to many of their boys moved on, they had a very good core group.

I think that teams will be real shocked at Acworth. They should be in the top 5 depending on how they ajust to kid pitching, was told they p/u a big kid from bartow county with good bat and has played 9u last yr.We will wait and see think the yankees are still trying to find the perfect guy to pitch but with no luck look foward to watching . |

I had the chance to watch Acworth a couple of times last year and was very impressed with this team, they looked like 9 or 10 yr olds playing against 8's. Very smart, strong group. I watched the Yarddogs and Longhorns as well and both looked strong but not as deep. I think you might be right, if Acworth has the pitching and catching I think they will surprise some of the better teams in this age group. |

Anyone know what became of Canton Stingers? They were really strong in Dizzy Dean coach pitch but went to travel format last year as 8U. I have not heard them mentioned as a team to watch. Any insights? |

Canton didn't fair too well last year making the move to kid pitch, not sure what they are doing for this up coming year. They were tough as 6's, pretty solid as 7's but from what I saw last season I believe size and speed caught up with them, they had a tough time adjusting to kid pitch and I think they lost some of their original group. |

They ony won a couple games last season and have split up. One of the coaches has the Creekview feeder team and the other is trying to rebuild. |

looks like the acworth warriors are going to be a team to beat the came back from an 8 to 2 ball game with ecb yankees and tied them they also scored maybe 20 plus points in one game looking foward to see the team grow may be able to play with some 10u teams |

3rdbase - don't get ahead of yourself, I watched the same game and yes Acworth showed a lot of heart to come back but they where overmatched by the lefty East Cobb threw at them the 1st two innings. I like the team and they will get better the more the see kid pitching but I will wait until I see it 1st. They still have to face the top tier teams at this age level plus it's fall and most of the teams they will see today won't be the same come spring. We'll see. |

baseballnutz, you are correct but they did score 2 runs on the lefty and had runners on 2nd and 3rd while he was pitching.they have also had a 1 to 2 yrs playing kid pitch to grow and get a feeling for kid pitch. I will agree they (won't be the same team as they were in the fall) that goes for all teams not just ecb . and who is the top tier in the 9u ? I know the ecb long horns then who ? |

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the Acworth Team - I want to see them play the Yard Dogs, OTC Scrappers, Elite Gamers Red and Longhorns before I can place them as a top team in this age group. Can they be absolutely. They tied the 5th or 6th best team from last year without ever playing kid pitch and that is pretty strong but their are deeper teams out there with more pitching. |

I too was at the Acworth tournament watching the games, and found it interesting that the East Cobb team used 8 or 9 different pitchers. The lefty that they threw against the PC Sharks was even better then the kid that they threw against Acworth. My son will definitely play in a lessor division, as the Yankees were simply a much better team overall than us and the others. From what I could see, Acworth is a solid team, but had the Yankees really wanted to humiliate anybody there, they could have. I mean absolutely no disrespect by this. They simply were much better. |

Pauldingbaseball I also watched most of the Acworth 9U tournament last weekend and the Warriors looked very extremely strong for a new kid pitch team. The Warriors entire team looks like 11U players in size comparison to the other 9U teams in tournament. I realize ECB always fields strong teams, but I would keep a close watch on the Warriors this Spring after they have adjusted to kid pitch. I only saw 3 solid pitchers from the EC Yankees on the day and Acworth showed more pitching depth with 7 different pitchers on the day / 5 very solid.

Surprise team.. 9u Ringgold Tigers beat many of the top teams last season. Beat EC Longhorns, and Yankees and beat many other top teams. They picked up two new players that are pretty good. Another team that will be one of the top teams is the Dacula Falcons
Should be a fun summer with a lot of good teams |

Ringgold is the typical coach pitch type team. Won the WS in coach pitch, but realized pretty quick that kid pitch is a different game. They can give a good team a competitive game in pool play, when those better teams are conserving pitchers for the playoff brackets (which they usually have already qualified for). From what everybody has told me, and confirmed on the www.gausssabaseball.com website, Ringgold has never beaten one of the better teams when it counted. They will be better than Acworth, 643, Adcock, but won't be able to compete on a regular basis with Dacula, OTC, Longhorns, Yankees, Yard Dogs, and 3 or 4 more top teams. None of us want to admit when we're not as good as some of these teams, but need to realize that we'll get wins based on the match up and more importantly the situation. 643 or Adcock have one of the better chances to be spoiler, as they have kid pitch kids on their team who will make immediate impacts. Other teams will go through an adjustment period and it may be next season before they're on par against the better pitching. When the top 9U teams throw their better pitchers, they're in an entirely different league then the new coach pitch teams, Ringgold included. I've read this and that about "watch out" or "we're the team to beat" but the truth is, it's not about the hype. The premier teams are better, period. We've all seen them on the field, see how they're coached, their approach, their arms...stop denying it gentlemen. |
