Cobb County Fighting Hogs Baseball
Team Information: Cobb County Fighting Hogs is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of baseball to youth ages 13-14 years old in Cobb County. We will foster an environment that gives players an opportunity to further develop skills, experience personal achievement in a team atmosphere, practice good sportsmanship and teamwork. Cobb County Fighting Hogs strive to create a family environment to allow each family to become an integral part of their child’s progress and also become a corner stone for building a team that works as one. Cobb County Fighting Hogs are committed to providing a sound and experienced team organization that will assist players in not only developing skills but instilling rules, honor, respect, patience, education, integrity and fun that will make them successful in their future careers and as citizens in their community. Coaching Information: Head coach Kevin Smith (14 + years of coaching, (college and minor league player) Tommy Hall Asst. Coach-former head coach of Winston has now joined forces for 2 + yrs. Keith Butler- Asst. Coach for 3 yrs. Location: Home and practice field will be South Cobb High School Complex. Indoor practice will be held at The Champfit Grindhouse in Austell. Team Cost: Total cost for the team for 2017 is $1400.00 (which covers 2 uniforms, bat bag and tournament fees.) Monthly payments will be set up and also fundraising can cover up to half or more of team fees. Uniform fee-$350.00. The one thing team fees do not cover is any hotel stays and the last tournament of the year, which is normally in June and out of state. Last year team went to Panama City and the year before to Charleston SC. About the Team: No positions are set in stone and the coaching staff believes in hard work and that anything can be earned through hard work. Every player will be given a chance to assure his positions desired and or maybe asked to try another position based on team needs and players skill. About the Coach: The head coach, Kevin Smith has an open door policy and is willing to talk to the parents about child’s progress and will give player assessments midway through the season. (Around spring break and another in May) Please do not approach coaches after games to discuss game decisions and use of players. Remember coaches also need time to digest what transpired as well. Kevin Smith • 404-353-3240 • fightinghogs@gmail.com Where we play: Team normally plays around the Atlanta area, as far as Dalton, Cumming, Monroe, Savannah, Cartersville, Etowah, Marietta, Gwinnett, Lil Burn, Smyrna, Rome and Atlanta. The team tries to organize tournament games on every other weekend but Mother Nature does not always cooperate. END OF SEASON TOURNAMENT: Will be played at Daytona Beach FL, USA NATIONALS FLORIDA NIT from June 19- 25.
