Can anyone see anything different than a name your 'runner up" vs the EC Astros in the Championship? I don't

Comical. Stros should be in D2 or maybe D3.

Everyone knows 9th Inning and OTC coast to an easy final, but the Dodgers pitching is just too deep.

Seems like a well balanced tourney. Missing a few of the top teams. I think there are a hand full of teams that can win it. We will see what the Dodgers and OTC really have.

Great to have baseball back gang!
I gotta say, some of the draw to see last week's tournament was the fact that all teams had to play hard to get to the GOLD with so many teams. The tourney this week is still solid but it takes away the pressure when the coaches don't have to worry about making the MAIN BRACKET. So the strategy won't be near as interesting in the pool play. Yes, they will use pitchers innings but the top tier teams will hold their aces with very little use in the pool play which takes away from the weekend some in my opinion in terms of watching great games. I read the post last week and had to laugh for sure at some of the comments. I was glad to see one particular post pulled ( nice work NW Baseball )... That attacked/ critized or whatever you want to call it a teams for playing daddy ball. Ridiculous! This is most of these teams first tournament and no matter what anyone thinks these kids are supposed to be developed so they can get better. When you start attacking kids/ teams you have stepped over the line even if it is opinion for this kind of blog. Back to my point, last week it was ALL ABOUT THE DRAW IN POOL. I could name 3-4 programs that were very very lucky / fortunate they had two less experienced teams and they cruised into the GOLD untested. I wish there was a way to get the directors of all these sanctions to test every team with at least one tough match up. Several teams got nailed last week with two extremely tough games and to get to that GOLD bracket it really reveals the depth in pitching or at least the teams that are still working towards that goal to develop their staff. What am I saying? Some of the teams that performed poorly may have held pitching and tried to survive on hitting and defensive play and got caught trying to look ahead. I saw a few talented teams that I know will win long term because they always have but they likely were trying to stock pile some pitchers for the bracket and oops they lost. Gotta get there first I guess guys! But last week's large numbers and pool play were like a NCAA tourney, you gotta win. I am just saying that was fun to watch. I think the Gamers are the Gamers, enough said. However, there are easily 7-10 teams that given a better draw get in the GOLD and maybe make some noise. But that is the name of the game week in and week out.
This week, watch those early pool games between SF Giants and Smarttense Angels and then the same team Angels and the Astros. These two games should be solid competitive games. SF is hot no doubt but these three teams are close enough in talent that it should be a good watch. OTC is always good and Coach B does a good job but I am curious what they picked up to see if they remain the same scrappy solid team. I noticed some teams went back to "the lab" this week and some had to potentially go grab qualifiers for their long term trips I suppose.
The Spring SuperNIT and PG Major are going to be awesome weekends of baseball. No doubt! I sure wish it was on the Northside so I could see it...ha ha.

Glad to be smelling the fresh cut grass and watching baseball again ladies and gents! This 11U group may be among the strongest in travel ball in the metro right now. It could be the best of all the age groups playing right now with as good as the talent is once they go out nationally and compete. The top is loaded for sure but now you have what I would guess is 10-15 mid major programs that will battle all year to try and move up into the top 6-8 majors. Let's play ball!!!

i agree with throwsgas but would also add...

The EC Astros should have won their first game last weekend without any excuses or exceptions.
With that win, they would've been in the silver bracket - which had a couple of really good teams.

If you claim to be a major team, you have to win your pool play games AND have enough to deliver on SUNDAY.
That's what separates the MAJORS from AAA. It's pitching depth and the bottom of their hitting order.....
The depth and execution are what matters for MAJOR teams.

The reality of this big tourney was several MAJORS didn't play well against teams they "should" have beaten in bracket play on Sunday.
So, let's give the teams that played well and won credit.

EAB played well, did what they were supposed to in pool play and sent the "Top 5" Dodgers home early.
643 also played well, did what they were supposed to in pool play and sent the other "Top 5" Kennesaw home early.
Titans had an easy pool draw but took care of business, their reward for taking care of business - Meet the Boss.....the Real Boss - the Gamers in bracket play game one.

The surprise was the West Cobb team who had a great pool play run and got introduced to a MAJOR team in Gainesville....

Gainesville and the Gamers got it done in pool play and on Sunday....they are the top 2 teams right now! Everyone else in GA is chasing them right now and get a chance next weekend to prove it.

If anyone learned anything this past weekend - it was "Don't underestimate anyone!" unless you want to go home early.
Just ask Kennesaw or the Dodgers..."one and done" on Sunday. Or EC Astros who ended up in the bronze....

Looks like the mighty Astros and gamers Mitchell fell victim to the one and done curse in bracket play....

The only thing worse than going 0-3 this weekend would of been to lose to EAB. 4-7 on the season, but admit it...you dont want to see us on your schedule. We will bounce back because we're just too good not to.

Man you don't want to see us Dbag. Just some history on our team...we played with 15 players last year and played a mix AAA/MAJ schedule. When we took our 10 players to the major tournaments we faired well considering we never played major ball before. So we beat Cellblock, played GA Yard Dogs to a 1 run game thru 6 innings, played the runner up to the Atl Super NIT to a 1 run ball game thru 5 innings. We beat OTC by 5 runs, lost to Titans by 3 runs, so we have had alot of "close" games. This is the first year we actually have experience playing major tournaments, and it looks like we will be just fine. Now, I don't know who you are or what your angle is, but you don't know our story, the effort the parents and players have put forth over the past 2 years, and the long trips to get our tails whipped when we live 1hr and 15mins from Cobb...all those beatings are why this team is where it's at now. It was not fun going 1-8 at the major level last year, but we have more wins at the major level this year in 1 tournament than we had all last year. Remember, the next time you post something trying to degrade our team make sure you know our history. We've earned everything I can promise you that, no handouts here. You're going to need someone to help get your foot out your mouth after 6 innings with us Dbag.

Don't feed the troll EABall. Those of us with a better knowledge of this age group, KNOW the legitimacy of your squad. Your performance proves that.

Good luck this weekend.

Thanks for the history lesson professor EAB. I didn't realize you guys were that bad last year. Astros post early when and where we're playing. Until then, the easiest way to send me crawling under the bridge is to win this weekend. Win, and I will publicly apologize next week. I'm a man of my word and assure you I will honor your team. That is of course until our teams meet on the field and then we can start the fun again.
