Well I'm sure plenty can debate Generals vs. Tribe, but this is the 2nd year in a row FL isn't sending their 4 best either... Team FL/Monarchs should be replaced with Xtreme/Tampa. |

South Dekalb beat Gainesville 11 to 5 to win the PG Invitational Are we sure that we are sending the top four teams to represent Georgia? If not, is there a way to send out invites later in the season? |

Agreed. The way they are playing of late, the Tribe should easily be repping GA, in place of Kennesaw. |

Tribe should certainly be going instead of Kennesaw, however would imagine with Kennesaw finishing in the top 4 at State last year prompted that decision. Yet, the team merge with Kennesaw & Titans Orange (4 Players, +1 OTC) does not appear to be working for them this year. As expected with adding 5 new players into a long standing team the chemistry would be off.
Gamers is the only hope for Georgia to take it this year.
If Xtreme were in it the Championship would boil down to the Gamers vs. Xtreme. |

So Kennesaw added five players; four from Titans Orange. But as we've said before, South Dekalb added five Yard Dogs and Coach Johnson is making it work over there. I don't think that it's the numbers that get you, it's WHAT you add. Three of the five that South Dekalb added are primarily outfielders. They also added two bracket play Pitchers. Coach Johnson obviously had a plan during "free agency."
What many teams do wrong (not saying that this is Kennesaw's problem) is that you can't add redundant positions. Especially if those additions also come with parents who don't buy in to what the Head Coach wants to do. I mean, how can you develop players, let alone win on Sunday, if you are trying to satisfy six Dads who will all tell anyone that, "My kid should be playing Shortstop!"
But back to GA/Fla...
Everyone is pointing the finger at Kennesaw, saying that they don't belong. But this is a tournament that will need pitching depth. Each team is basically going to need SIX Pitchers that can each throw three quality innings on Saturday, in what they are saying will be temperatures in the low to mid nineties, all against above average competition.
In this tournament, you may only advance on Sunday, if your number five and six Pitchers on the depth chart, can help get you through Saturday. Kennesaw does have pitching depth. |

Great job to all the teams this past weekend. Goes to show that any team can win on any given day. Top 2 Florida representatives got sent home with some unexpected wins and losses throughout the entire field of teams. Congrats to the Gamers for bringing back the hardware and to FCA for surprising everyone with their play. Class act program. Gamers have been struggling of late but started looking like the Gamers of old again this past weekend. |
