So, the SNIT is upon us, and we see the Top-5 in GA converging on Dallas for what's got to be one of the best tourneys all year.
Will the Gamers continue to dominate? Will the Tribe? Unlike the spring, can GA keep the title here at home, or will Memphis ruin those plans...???
Who you got? |

You may need to put out a new top 10. The Astros are coming off two tournament championships and a 2nd place this past weekend at the PG. They had the Gamers beat and had the one bad inning to end up in a tie. Shut out the NI Dodgers. Also had Kennesaw beat if not for a few untimely errors away in the championship. For as much grief as they took in the early season, they should be in anybody's top 5 right now. |

I think we can all agree there's a separation of the top 5 Ga teams and the rest. Kennesaw, Gamers, NI Dodgers, Gainesville, and Cell Block have proven capable of beating one another in a championship on any given weekend. Depending on who gets the right draw in pool, who doesn't have to pitch their top 3 or 4 to get into bracket, whether or not you get a bye game, schedule of game times, and a little luck all play a factor.
Who's the next tier to challenge on a more consistent basis? SD Tribe, EC Astros, SF Giants, and Titans Blue. Who else? |

Go ahead and start a Top - 10 thread. You'll may be surprised by the lack of love for the Astros (to break up the Big 6 anyway).
By count, they are: 1-0-2 in pool against the Big-6 They are: 1-2 in bracket against the Big-6.
That's maybe #7-10 worthy, but that's it. Lack of consistent defense, as it sounds, seems to not only be the difference of W's/L's but also ranking them any higher than, IMHO tied for 8th. |

I would say kennesaw is hot right now and will be tough. I also agree that the astros are hot too but they need to step up and play in the SNITs and prove it on that level.

No denying the Astros anymore! We are absolutely in the top 6 or 7 and can beat anybody ahead of us in a one or two game tourney on our day. In a 4 or 5 game majors tournament maybe not quite yet, but still lots of baseball to be played. Back at again this weekend. IMO final 4: Astros, minion, SF Giants, and titans blue. Dark horses are gamers mitchell, OTC, and 643.

For as well as they are playing, the Astros had a chance this coming weekend to make some noise and see what they are about. The SNIT has arguably 5 of the best teams in GA plus some good out of state teams. Not saying they are ducking the competition, but it would be good to see them seek it out as well. Playing in the lesser tournament will keep people questioning whether or not they belong in that top 5. Anything less than a tournament win at TC and it is a disappointment. |

Why would the Top-5 be worried where a #7-15 team plays? The thread was started to discuss the big boys, and who will come out on top of THE tourney of the weekend. Not the AA/AAA tourney of T/C.
So back to the original question, who you got? |

I will go with the Gamers. I imagine they will be out for blood after not winning the PG last week. Maybe an all Georgia final with them and the Tribe. |

He doesn't play for one of the Big-6.
He plays for the Panthers. |

I'm gonna take kennesaw since no one is giving them any love for their win last week. I will also take the tribe...cause I like their sweet uniforms and they can flat out hit.
Interesting bracket layout. Basically the top 2 from pools b and c get a bye...that's the gamers, Dodgers, tribe, and raiders. The loser of kennesaw and Gainesville will have an extra game...assuming they both handle the Memphis team which I believe they both can do....

Congrats to the Tribe for takin 1st place and Gamers for taking 3rd. Looks like Memphis came ready to play. Was a little shocked at 9th Inning and G-Ville going 0-2.
Oh well, state is right around the corner. |

I feel the USSSA did a poor job this weekend in giving any effort to prepare the fields for the kids to play on Sunday in the major division. To make a call at 7:15 am and cancel for the whole day is irresponsible. Teams could have played in the mid to late afternoon and completed the event. Sitting outside all day Saturday 20 minutes from the site with no rain, strong sunshine, and a breeze would have made play possible. Interested if anyone else feels this way? |

I completely agree. USSSA is notorious for canceling Sun games after Sat is complete. Probably so they won't have to provide refunds. It's unfortunate you have teams travel that far and stay the entire weekends only to watch every other division (A, AA, AAA) finish their tournament play. Other fields were available w/ no effort to use them - at least from the outside looking in |
