Just curious to see everyone’s perspective on pitching leading up to March 1. Teams will enter the frost tournaments in late February and then really begin to get things going in March. A player that pitches in March is not the same kid that pitches in late May. Some teams have already started practice and most will get rolling in January. So when you look forward in January and February what are your thoughts on getting those arms ready. I’m not saying this is correct but just to get some discussion going. Assuming an early January start and throwing just twice a week.

Week 1 – 2 – warm ups, a little long toss and throw 15 pitches @ 50 -75 %. Working mainly on controi and mechanics. Conditioning twice a week.

Week 3 – 4 – warm ups, long toss and throw 20 pitches @ 75 – 100 %. Working mainly on controi and mechanics. Conditioning. Start work on change-ups.

Week 5 – 6 - – warm ups, long toss and throw 20 -25 pitches @ 100 %. Conditioning

Week 7 – 8 - – warm ups, long toss and throw 35 pitches @ 100 %. Conditioning

The cold weather is a factor. I assuming the majority of this is done indoors or when the temps are high enough.
