The 12U East Cobb Aces will be holding open tryouts in conjunction with the 2017 Training Legends Showcase as follows:

Date: Sunday, July 23, 2017
Time: 5:00 - 9:00 PM

We will have a makeup tryout on Sunday, July 30 from 2:00 – 4:00.

We are thrilled to have the following outstanding instructors for the 2017-2018 season:

Gerald Perry, Hitting Instructor – Coach Perry enjoyed a lengthy MLB playing career including a stint with the Atlanta Braves. A former NL All-Star and lifetime pinch-hit leader for the St. Louis Cardinals, Perry has honed some of the game’s greatest hitters as a pro hitting coach for 15 years for teams including the Cubs, Pirates, Mariners and Athletics. Perry also acted as hitting coach for America’s 2013 World Baseball Classic squad. Perry has been a youth hitting instructor in the Atlanta area for years during MLB off-seasons; this will be his second year working with the Aces.

Napoleon Robinson, Pitching Instructor – Coach Robinson played at Columbus State and was drafted by the Dodgers in 1988. He spent six years in the minors with L.A. and Atlanta pitching 600+ innings while striking out more than 450 batters. Robinson has worked extensively for 12 years as a youth baseball instructor and coach. He achieves excellent on-the-field results without jeopardizing players’ health -- focusing on arm strength and stretching while emphasizing proper mechanics, pitch-count efficiency and working hitters and game situations. This will be Robinson’s fourth year instructing the Aces’ pitching staff.

Zane Evans, Hitting and Catching Instructor – Coach Evans is a local product who was a four-year letter winner and two-year captain at Roswell High School where he set the school’s single-season RBI record. Evans had a standout career at Georgia Tech where he was named to multiple All-American teams and was a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award as the nation’s top collegiate catcher. Evans played the past five years in the Kansas City Royals’ system. This will be Evans’ second year assisting the Aces.

Aces Head Coach Carl Pilger coached his first youth team as a philanthropy project in college and has been coaching and instructing youth baseball in East Cobb for 11 years. He started the Aces in 2013 to teach kids how to play baseball the right way, to foster a true passion for the game, and to emphasize player development in a positive learning environment. In addition to tournament success over the years, Aces alumni continue to thrive with high-level area travel teams.

This will be the third season with the current squad, and we will play at AA/AAA level. We will be going to Cooperstown and plan to end the season in July 2018. We will play a full fall schedule but will accommodate fall sports.

We look forward to seeing you at the fields!
