please stop hating on the yard dogs. we didn't put th schedule together. we just play who's ever in front of us. from my understanding, that team from Mississippi is the best team in the state |

Guru - where is the hate? The Yard Dogs where the number one team in the state last year and finished second in the WS. Don't really know what you are referring too. Writing they should do well in their pool is a shot? |

Sorry didn't mean to use the word hate. its just that everyone is on the longhorns tip and they haven't won anything meaningful yet. Now i must say, this acworth warriors team is something special. That was a really good game against the yard dogs. they should surprise and surpass alot of talented 9unds. this year. Still wondering how Kennesaw bet them like that, maybe it was that awesome shortstop the generals have |

Then it should make for a great game between the Longhorns and the Warriors at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. |

I have not posted until being compelled to because of this string. There are Manu good teams out there and certainly more that will join the list as time goes by. However, teams like the longhorns, yard dogs, OTC, and the Yankees are Use the advantage of playing last year and then continue to work hard and strive to improve just like those other teams that get mentioned as up and comers. To say the ceiling is higher for new 9u teams than that of the more seasoned teams is ridiculous. They are 9 years old. Regardless of experience not one kid or team is remotely close to reaching their potential, therefore be careful when you make such statements. Regarding this particular topic, I believe if any of the viewers review the forum topics you will see a great deal more of longhorn judgements than yard dog or any other team. I noticed there are posters counting pitches, making claims of not pitching enough players etc without so much as any knowledge of the workings of that team. Finally, if someone can tell me who has played any "meaningful" games then feel free to boast of your exploits. It's march, no one has played any meaningful games or tournaments. But to disregard a team that's won the only 3 tournaments it's played in and make them feel bad about who they played and where in early march is petty! This weekend will be great and teams like the longhorns have no expectations of wiining every game they play this year. So let's just simply enjoy the play of all these fantastic 9yrolds and enjoy watching the acworths of the world improve and challenge the top teams all the while stopping our judgemental conversations about teams like the longhorns and yard dogs whose only crime is being talented, well coached and just as hungry to improve. Thanks for allowing me to vent. |

And1 - 1st you're right there are many good teams and this is going to be a wonderful season for these boys. 2nd the ceiling reference was not taking anything away for the teams that have played as they will continue to improve, the point I was making is that teams that have never seen a kid throw a fastball or change up from 46ft will take sometime to adjust as well as baserunning, holding running and such. Just think about the 1st time your son or team started playing kid pitch to were their comfort level is now. Teams like OP and Acworth have more to adjust to and improve this season were many teams have already gone through this last year. That is the point I was attempting to make. Didn't mean to offend. |

Could not agree with you more And1. Every team can improve and the sky is the limit for the truly talented kids. On any given day any one team can beat the other. |

The guru - you said that the only reason why acworth lost to the Generals was because of Kennesaws awesome shortstop.
Have you not seen the Longhorns shortstop!!!!
I saw the acworth/yard dogs game and they did play well however the yard dogs bassically gave them there runs with walks in the last inning. |

Well I hope they all show up! The talent in North GA is amazing. Yes the Yard Dogs and Longhorns are awesome. However, they are not unbeatable. I think saying the Generals only won due to a shortstop is selling that particular team short. They have 6 new players and have a ton of room to improve just like Acworth etc. There are several very, very solid teams in the area. Should be a lot of Maalox/Tums being ingested by coaches this season as I forsee a lot of tight games! |

I hear the Mudcats and Homeplate Blue are going Kid Pitch after SNIT. I hear they have real good pitchers. Can anybody confirm this? |

The Longhorns beat them 6-0. Looks lke the Longhorns have given up zero runs and the Yard Dogs have scored a ton. If they both make it to the Championship it should be fun to watch these very talented 9u's go at it. |

The Yard Dogs just run ruled the championship game 21-13., against the PSA red sox from Mississippi(the team that beat the longhorns 12-3), and yes they threw there best pitcher. The yard dogs came to play and hit about 6 homeruns, about 12 in the whole tourney. Man they are in the elite 32. They have a great team and it showed this weekend, wish my son played with them and wish they could've played the longhorns |

From what I saw the longhorns threw 4 or 5 pitchers who all did great but they could not get a break by the umps. My son played in cumming this weekend and we were there only as spectators but I can honestly say I have never seen such poor officiating. I am sure the longhorns would like to get that one back with better officials. I am glad for the yard dogs and am sure the longhorns would have loved to play them as well. I hear they (longhorns) beat Acworth in a no hitter. |
