Following numerous try-outs, evaluations and scrimmages over the past 10 months, USA Baseball announced the 18 players who will make up the 2011 National Baseball Team for players under 14 years old. These 18 players were selected from thousands of players from across the Country.

USA Baseball is the National Governing Body of amateur baseball in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee.

The final 18-man roster will travel to San Felipe, Venezuela and represent the United States at the Pan Am 14U Baseball Championships that will be held August 11th through the 22nd. In the initial rounds of the tournament, the United States is scheduled to play Brazil, Bahamas, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Argentina and the Dominican Republic.

Included on the final 18 man US National Team roster are three players from the North Georgia area.

Addison Albright, a Left Handed Pitcher from Cumming is a rising Freshman at West Forsyth High School and is the Son of Alan and Tammy Albright.

Chris Cullen, Catcher and infielder from Cumming is a rising Freshman at King’s Ridge Christian School and is the Son of Stephen and Robin Cullen.

Jonathan Hughes, Outfielder and Right Handed Pitcher from Flowery Branch is also a rising Freshman at King’s Ridge Christian School and is the Son of Danny and Deanna Hughes.

All three players are members of the 15U Georgia Roadrunner Travel Baseball team that plays out of Alpharetta, Georgia and is ranked in the top 10 nationally.

The format of the Pan Am 14U Baseball Championships consists of each team playing seven pool games, the results of these games will determine the top four seeds. Those four teams advance to semifinal round and play for the right to compete for the Gold Metal. In the past four years (2007-2010) either Venezuela or the United States have won the Gold metal. For additional information about the team and live play-by-play scoring of the games, please go to USABaseball.com.

can you enlighten us on the total cost of tryouts? it is my understanding you have to re-pay at each step of the way and a lot of kids just cant afford the process. These are obviously talented players but just curious what it cost to make the team.

You can get on the team a couple of ways. First is if you happen to catch the eye of the various scouts and coaches around during the summer. The other it to get selected at one of the NTIS events during the summer. If you get selected for a regional team via the NTIS tryouts, you are invited to Cary, NC to the USA Baseball National Training Center. You spend 4 days there drilling, practicing and playing games against other regions in front of coaches and scouts. From that weekend, the coaches fill out their rosters for Team USA. Costs for the NTIS regional tryouts is $185 and consists of two half day clinics hosted by USA Baseball coaches. If selected to the regional team, the fee is $200 and includes your uniform and all other fees. I believe that everything is covered if you make the National team.

Georgia is part of the Mid Atlantic Region (GA, TN, AL, MS, NC, SC) and just announced their roster from this summer's tryouts. ALOT of representation from Georgia. These players will be in Cary in September trying to make the National team

8 GA players made 13u team
9 GA players made 15u team
6 GA players made 16u team

The players in the current tryout circuit are vying for a spot on next summer's team.

Below is a link to the roster of players. Scroll down to see all age groups.
