We played a USSSA All Star tournament this weekend 6U with only one umpire on the field. We later found out he was a dad of a player on the other team. He made at least 3 game changing calls and we lost by one run. Is this even legal ??
I'm a firm believer that there should be no dads in the dugout or on the field at 6U all star tourneys. Not as amateur daddyball coaches and especially not as umpires. They should sit with the scouts behind home plate and make sure the radar readings are recorded accurately.
I think what Renegade is trying to say is, it doesn't matter at 6u. What I'm going to say is, what umpires want to umpire a 6u game? We are having trouble getting umps at the high school level....be grateful you have any!

What umpire wants to umpire 6U ? The umpires that want to make money. It's not that hard to find someone to do it. I could ask the same question about HS games ? Regardless it needs to be a umpire who doesn't have a dog in the fight. Renegade is right about one thing all the scouts behind home plate. More deals being made than at any of them HS games you went to. Yea it's 6U not semi pro.
