| We are just starting out as a travel team. Do most travel teams have the parents sign a "contract/agreement" for the Fall and Spring? |

Sure why not. Detail every expectation and behavior the parents are signing away for their payment of fees. Good luck enforcing any of it......knock yourself out being the next court case.
BUT you seriously do need 1 item as coach. A signed agreement that parents will not hold you liable and their only form of financial redress is to notify you they see a problem and will be immediately removing their child from team, with prorated dues returned less a service fee as soon as the player is replaced. |

| Contracts are lame and pointless. They are entirely UN-enforceable and in general people should run from clubs who have them, in my opinion. If you sign a contract to get 6 private lessons from your club, that's just stupid. A kid should be able to get lessons where they want, they shouldn't be mandatory. Hold a parent meeting, have a PP presentation and tell them your philosophies. Period, that's it! |

| Not sure exactly what you mean by contract, but we have everyone sign a player/parent team expectation. This says they received it. In a nutshell... bad sportmanship by players (throwing helmets, arguing with umps ect. will not be tolerated, and out of control parents could be reason for player dismissal! No player is guaranteed playing time or playing their preferred position. |

| Nothing wrong with a code of conduct contract that puts the organization's philosophy in writing. However! If the same organization is not going to follow the very policies they are outlining for their players, then it's surely better left unsaid, and unwritten! |

And said contract should apply even to your super star player! You know THAT kid that throws his helmet, cusses when things don't his way at the plate, but he's one of your best players....he should be sat for his behavior too! |

| How about the teams that have contracts that don't follow them. Example we just left a team that had us sign a contract that stated that it would only roster 13 positional players. The team ended up with 20 and 2 PO's. Now a lot of those kids may have been considered PO's but why were they playing in the field? It didn't take long to recognize. |

I realize teams/academies base their budget on number of players so it is unrealistic to expect a refund for a season-ending injury but has anyone ever successfully received a pro-rated refund for such a situation?

| Good luck with ever receiving any kind of refund. Most of these organizations don't know the meaning of the word. They will recruit a kid to play in the place of the money that you've paid them for free. |

I've heard of several people receiving refunds on tourney fees. Can't do anything about the uniforms he has, or the practice space they needed to rent. But if he wasn't in a tourney, especially if they got someone to replace him, yes, I would ask for his portion of the tourney fees to be refunded and have seen it done. |

Small chance of getting any kind of refund. If your paying, you better believe others are not. So, what you are paying is supplementing others, not always a bad thing, if used for the right reasons.
We all know that the superstar and out-of-state kids are probably not paying. Most of the top teams have MANY out-of-state kids on their roster. I saw a local team recently have 16 out-of-state kids on their roster. |

| Getting a refund due to an injury seems like the right thing to do. Expecting a refund because you jumped teams is not good baseball. |
