CaC03Girl, he goes to a hybrid school. I didn't realize high school players can use their fields to practice hitting. Cool. ChinMusic, I will check out Wills Park. Not familiar. They have fields you can practice on? The reason I ask is because some public parks lock their gates. Very wrong. Wills is 10 minutes away. That would be nice!
At my sons Cobb Co HS anytime the boys want to hit if they text the coach he will unlock the facility and let them in so they can work on their own. He can't work with them but as long as they respect the facility and lock up when they leave the coach loves the boys getting in extra work on their own. Occasionally the boys will even let us dads through BP or hit fungos. Not often but occasionally:)
I want to know how County public parks can lock their fields to the public when they should be available all the time unless the Park is using them. Are we not paying for them?
They lock them because the soccer and cricket players ruin the fields...
However, I think they should be open for use as we technically pay for them with our tax dollars. Or at least have one of the fields open for public use.

Don't forget frisbee soccer!!!! Actually I agree they should be open to the public and I can't imagine Cricket and Soccer are doing that much damage to a baseball field. We are paying to have them fixed and repaired anyway.
Dogs... people try and take their dogs and let them run 'loose' on the fields (all fenced), and then don't pick up after their dogs. That's what I've heard has been the biggest reason they lock them.
