No worries, we understand there are a lot of questions. For these events listed above, the G/S/B Bracket Format will apply. To see if a specific event will be using this format, please check the event description.

The PG Youth Division a branch of the National Office, running the 8u-14u group. Our guys (Tony, Josh, Jules, Telly, Donny) will be running those events, along with the 15u-18u divisions in those specific tournaments. For everything else (Super25, WWBA, ECB Invite, Summer Showdown, etc), the national office is in charge.

For younger age groups accustomed to TC and other tourneys, will 1.15 BPG bats be allowed for 11s and 12s? I saw another post that says they were allowed, but PG website says that USA bats are required. Can you clarify? Thanks.

All age groups 8u-12u are no longer required to use the USABat stamped bats, but may if they choose to do so. Here is the official verbage as seen under the "Bat Restrictions" section under each event:

BPF 1.15 Bat Standard
7U-12U: Metal bat. All bats must have a branding, label, or stamp proving BPF 1.15. USABat, BBCOR and Wood bats are allowed.

The following bats are banned from play until further notice:

(Dirty South) Kamo BB KA 8 (30/22, 31/21, 32/22, 31/23, 32/24 only)
(Easton) Ghost X (30/20 only - USA Baseball Marked)

So is PG gonna actually invest any money into East Cobb? Having nonworking scoreboards for as much money as that park takes in, itís absurd. Pay an electrical contractor to come in and fix them. And maybe pressure wash the blue fence coverings and covers over the seating area? The fields look good but folks are starting to talk about the condition of the park in other areas. Stroll down to the younger kids fields once in a while and look around. Itís not hard to see what needs to be done.

Site directors/admins, scouts and especially umpires need a place to duck out to cool down/recharge/change out in between games and during rain/lightning delays. Itís the little things that PG does so well that attracts some of the best talent (including umpires) in the game, hopefully that attention to detail continues during the PG & ECB relationship.

thanks, Hook em. At least theyíre working on it.

On the positive side, I will say most folks I talked with agreed that the umps were better quality than we experienced under TC, so thatís a start.

Fix and operate the scoreboards East Cobb Baseball. You're in the spotlight now. It looked weak last weekend. If the goal is for folks to pay for DiamondKast, it won't work. Why else wouldn't East Cobb Baseball get scoreboards fixed and operational?

Does anyone else have more detail here that explains this?

PG has officially become a joke. Outrageous entry fees and gate fees to play on "first class facilities."

ECB is a complete mess, trash everywhere, maybe one scoreboard that works. Bathrooms are almost intolerable for moms and kids. Preferential treatment for teams like 643, two patsy games at their home field on Friday nights, and now trying to use Milton Pro Player? That place is no better, worst surface to play on around.

Tony, you really should go back to running a TC tournament. Selling out to ECB will be the downfall of PG at this age group. I think we will take our teams to LakePoint, there we won't have to worry about getting Big City for an ump. He is the epitome of the downfall of PG.

Chao PG!

You mean thereís actually 1 scoreboard that works in ECB? I havenít seen one yet, neither have I seen any working scoreboard in any of their alternate locations. I know the scoreboard works bec it was operational during HS games. Is PG saving money by not operating the scoreboards? And donít get me started on all the kids who slipped and tripped on the Milton Pro player field. That raised home plate is downright dangerous. And all the kids complained about getting confused on where the infield ends and outfield starts when fielding the ball. It threw a bunch of them off when trying to gauge the flight of ball.

PG scheduling is nuts! This past weekend A team (14U) finished their second pool play game a little after 4:00 then had to drive 80 miles to play their 1st bracket game scheduled at 6:00

they want you to spend the $40 to purchase Diamondkast. Itís a ruse. Pretty nice scheme. Now instead of a stupid scoreboard you can have access to all scores online!Ē Itís par for the course for PG/East Cobb. Gotta gouge you while the gouging is good!

The people keeping DiamondKast have no idea. We still have a game that we won, that DiamondKast has as a loss because the kid couldn't figure out the software and he gave the home team a run instead of the visitors and couldn't change it.

It is a complete waste and I can't believe PGADMIN hasn't responded. Well...I can, because I am sure they have nothing to say, because they too know it is a joke. It is pretty telling now that the PBR tournaments are selling out with 28 teams and there are only 14 in the PG for this Memorial Day Weekend.

PBR has 25 teams this weekend... 13 playing 60x90 & 12 playing 54x80.
PG has 27 teams this weekend... 14 playing 60x90 & 13 playing 54x80.

PG scorekeepers are not good. No denying that. They make no effort to make sure the player positions are correct after the initial lineup is submitted, other than the pitchers, and even then, I have seen a number of incidents where that's not kept right. Every team needs to have someone keeping a book (GC or paper or something) to make sure that PG's pitcher eligibility is straight. PG's DK software allows runs to score when the 3rd out of an inning is recorded on a force play and frequently their scorekeepers don't record batting order substitutions correctly, so you can't always trust who's up to bat. And yes, we have also seen where the DK scoreboard is completely reversed, showing the wrong team winning a game. Definitely frustrating at times.

As for the scoreboards at ECB, yeah yeah, it's nice to look up and see the score being kept for you, but GC and DK will give you the scores of games w/o paying anything. While I'm sure PG would love for everyone to purchase a DK subscription and GC would love for you to pay for their service, if all anyone's concerned with is the score, that information is available for free people... assuming that is that the scorekeeper has it right, which again is why every team should be keeping their own book.

PGADMIN, thanks for the response. Any insight as to why none of the scoreboards (whether in ecb or high school fields) are operational for all PG tournaments? We know at least some of the scoreboards in the HS fields work as we see it working during HS varsity games. Is it an issue with being charged extra to use the scoreboards or needing to hire additional resources to operate the scoreboards (which I understand)?

Furthermore, how do you call a facility First Class if it doesn't have a scoreboard? I get it, you want us to buy DK, or some of you guys just say watch GC, but come on. Coaches are making moves and decisions every inning based on the count and number of outs. It is a total pain and only leads to arguments or discrepancies in the score and the counts on the batter when you have no scoreboard.

It is a part of the game that everyone should expect from a first class facility.

Through discussions with those that run the complex, we understand that there is a major electrical system issue that needs to be repaired, particularly Fields 4-8, and it is not as easy as calling out a repair technician when games are not being played.

At our other offsite facilities, many of the schools do not allow access to use their scoreboards, but we are working to rectify that as soon as we can. The issue has been brought up on a constant basis, and many will not allow people outside of the baseball/booster program operating them.

While some facilities may not have staff assigned to run the scoreboards, all fields we use for our PG National (Red Flag) events have a DK Scout assigned to keep the official book, and can be accessed free of charge through the age group's event home page via the ticker bar, or by selecting the individual game through the Schedule/Scores tab. There is no "ruse" or conspiracy to trick or force anyone to purchase the software.

As previously stated, our doors are open and we welcome constructive criticism to ensure a top quality product on and off of the field. If there are any other underlying issues that need to be addressed, we will be happy to discuss via email or personal phone call.

Thanks everyone, and enjoy the weekend.

Thanks for the insights into the scoreboard issue PGADMIN. If we are to rely on DK, can we request that DK provide the balls-strike, and # of outs info for free in addition to the score of the game to replicate what we would normally get with a working scoreboard?

Thanks again!

#truth

If a school (re: booster/dugout club) have folks running the concessions, then they have access to the score booth, to have a parent or sibling or ANYONE run the scoreboard. But I've rarely seen high schools running concessions-- so that's a plus.

My son had played games at East Cobb starting back in 2004. Scoreboards never worked then. He played games there through 2012, when he graduated HS and went to play college. I don't think I remember a time that the scoreboards worked consistently. And since 2012, I've continued to hear complaints about scoreboards not working.

Good luck getting them to work - ever...

Same goes with the dirty bathrooms and trash around the stands. I just don't think ECB cares a whole lot.

On a positive note, they always did have the best food at the concession stand :)

With the high school scoreboards those things you can not just stick anybody up there. You have to train someone to do it. They are not like scoreboards at rec. parks. So good chance the concession people have not been shown how to operate it. Plus the concession people for high school booster clubs usually work in shifts not same people every time.
