I hope not too, but shouldn’t make kids quit baseball. Maybe younger kids like 9/10, but any kid 12 or over that quits because he has to wear a mask was probably going to quit soon anyways. Kids that love the game just want to play and if that means wearing a mask then so be it.
Masks are non-sensical. This virus is destroyed in seconds outside in strong UV light. Kids need to be outside in the sunshine and fresh air playing this glorious game. Enough is enough.
If the catcher has to wear one the batters will have to. Masks don’t protect the wearer as much as they protect others and the C would be getting breathed on by every batter. Ump may be behind P to call balls and strikes.
No way you could require a catcher to wear a mask and not the hitters. Just think about how much air is expelled every time a hitter swings. They are much more of a danger than the catcher or umpire in my opinion.
My 12U team wants to play as bad as anyone but if masks are required we would most likely just wait till this nonsense is over before we got back on the field. Kids just want to have fun/play ball and wearing a mask isn't very fun IMO!
