Has anyone heard or can anyone confirm that for next season Perfect Game will use Graduation Year to determine what age group you play in. |

Makes it difficult for a kid playing up now doesn't it? If my son is on 16u team who are all graduating in 2016, but he doesn't graduate until 2017, does he just not get to play in those tournaments then? Food for thought. |

No, no different than a 16u playing up in a 17u tourney. 16u Can't play in a 15u tourney.
Likewise, a 2017 grad could play in a 2016 grad tourney, just not a 2018 grad tourney.
Nothing really changes except some of players on a team that are a school grade ahead of the majority of their peers (i.e., the kid who's on a 16u team with a 2015 grad year, where most of his teammates are 2016 grad year. |

This would actually be a big difference for some teams/players, my son's 15u team had 3 2016s this season, for instance, and they played some 16u teams with substantial numbers of 2015s (though I'm sure a lot of those guys also played on some 17u teams when the opportunities arose). |

FWIW, the PG rep who posts at HSBBWEB says that as far as he knows, this isn't on the table. |

I didn't think that PG really cared much about age in their tournaments. When my son was 17U/2013, they played teams in the WWBA that we know had 18U/2012 players. Nobody seemed to care. |

This kind of goes with the whole age/grade discussion. I think this SHOULD happen. Play grade ball rather than age ball IMO. All other sports do. Baseball is the only one that's different. If you hold your child back in school (for whatever reason), that's up to you. Hope my son sticks it our to get to the PG level! |

I guess someone needs to check before tryouts start, Check Perfect Game schedules now. This is the inaugural WWBA 16u Labor Day at LakePoint, which will take place at the brand new LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, GA. AGE LIMIT: 2017 Graduates or younger. Not birth date limit. Strictly grad year.

That is weird, given that all of those events are actually named by age (14u, 16u, etc). Is this something specific to the fall events? Assuming they enforce the limit by grad year, I don't actually know of any complete teams from last season that would be eligible to play (every 15u team I was aware of had at least a couple 2016 grads). |

Per PGStaff at HSBBWEB, this is a fall thing (and he made it sound like it's been this way for a while, I wouldn't know), summer events remain by age. |

PLAY UP. NOT DOWN. (if you want a challenge)
PLAY DOWN. NOT UP. (if you are just into winning tourneys aka trophy hunting so your resume looks better)
PS: Lots of teams loaded up for PG events in Ft. Myers this summer. It's not gonna stop. |

I am more concerned about my son playing on a team with mostly rising 9th graders and having 1 or 2 rising 10th graders force his whole team to have to play up. |

I heard from Perfect Game rep today and they assured me in summer it goes by age.
