Here's my own stab at an unofficial TC point system. Comments are appreciated. Let's get to a point in the next 4 weeks where we can agree (or agree to disagree) on some point system.

Rule 1 - Only keep track of "open" tournaments (no division 2 or 3 tournaments this first year). Tournaments would include (1) Spring Frost, (2) FC Slugfest, (3) March Mayhem, (4) Elite Invitational, (5) Back to School Brawl, (6) North Atlanta Open, (7) McCann Classic, (8) GA/ALA Border Wars, (9) State Championship, and (10) Summer Shootout.

Rule 2 - Assuming a "blind draw," every team gets 5 points for each pool play win. Can't take into account strength of schedule.

Rule 3 - Assuming gold, silver, and bronze brackets: Gold Bracket winners receive 3 points for Round 1 wins, 6 points for Round 2 wins, 9 points for Round 3 wins, and 12 points for Round 4 wins. Silver Bracket winners receive 2 points for Round 1 wins, 4 points for Round 2 wins, 6 points for Round 3 wins, and 8 points for Round 4 wins. Bronze Bracket winners receive 1 point for Round 1 wins, 2 points for Round 2 wins, 3 points for Round 3 wins, and 4 points for Round 4 wins. If the bracket doesn't go to 4 rounds, we'll eliminate this point total. If it does, reward Round 4 points (to show, if nothing else, pitching depth).

Rule 4 - On the Monday after each of the 10 tournaments listed above, Top 15 rankings to include overall record (in just these TC events) and total points will be posted on this site.

Rule 5 - For the double elimination after pool play state tournament, pool play wins still count as 5 points. In the bracket portion of the tournament, wins in the winners' bracket portion of the tournament will count 4 points for round 1, 8 points for round 2, 12 points for round 3, 16 points for round 4, and 20 points for round 5. A team's first win in the losers' bracket will be 2 points, followed by 4 points, followed by 6 points, followed by 8 points, and followed by 10 points. If your team wins more than 5 losers' bracket games, you will win a gold star since your team obviously has a lot of pitching depth.

Rule 6 - Rankings will be based on two factors and two factors only: (1) overall record and (2) total points. If you have a .750 winning percentage (i.e., 18-6) (pool play and bracket included) and 32 points, we will multiply .750 by 32 and you will have a total weighted score of 24. If you have a .600 winning percentage (i.e., 20-12) (pool play and bracket included) and 40 points, we will multiply .600 by 40 points and you will have a total weighted score of 24 as well.

Strength of schedule is going to be too difficult to calculate but since TC Tournaments are all "blind draws," the unofficial rankings should be pretty close. If there is interest, I'll agree to be responsible for rankings in Year 1. The top team at the end can host a BBQ dinner for the coaching staffs of the other 14 teams in the final rankings in late July.

Comments? Thoughts?
