Has any one been out to the Triple Crown event in Omaha during the College World Series? We're looking at several end of the year tournaments and have heard good things but wanted to check with you guys.

We went last year as 13u's and enjoyed it. The fields we played on (all in Iowa, btw) were fine - not great, but fine. They use other fields as well - can't comment on them.

Competition was good - we were eliminated by Bandits Gold (with a few Black reinforcements) and there were other good teams from across the country.

Not much to do in Omaha, but there is a small, safe "party district" downtown. I'd stay down there if I were going again.

But what made it worth it was attending the CWS. Most of us attended about three games and it was a great experience.

It ain't cheap, but I thought it was worth it.

We went 2 years ago as 11U and it was great. We went to the College World Series in between playing games and it was a blast. My family and I flew out 3 days early and went to 2 days of CWS games before everyone else got out there.

The first couple of days we stayed at the Hampton Inn over in Council Bluffs, IA (right across the river from Omaha) which has a free shuttle to the CWS games and also has a casino next door. There is also a Holiday Inn there. The hotel is only 5 minutes shuttle ride to the CSW and is way worth it. Not having to park and walk to the stadium is a huge benefit.

I hope everyone that goes out there has as much fun as we did. The Triple Crown tournament was well run and an enjoy to play in.

GL - Think I am going to take the Travel Trailer and enjoy some home base camping for the CWS venue - did you happen to see any 'near proximity" RV spots?

I know there is a KOA campground on the west side of Omaha. You will have to look to see how far away from the park the campground is. I think the fields the 13U games are played on are over in Council Bluffs IA.

Yes, last yr all of our 13 yr old games were in Council Bluffs, IA which is only 5 minutes from downtown Omaha and 10-15 minutes max from Rosenblatt Stadium. It's not a camping ground, but there is a Bass Pro Shops in Council Bluffs and I think they always allow campers/rvs don't they?

The Triple Crown Omaha is a great event. The CWS alone is worth it if you have never been.
