LOL Classic!

There is nothing preventing you from doing that EXCEPT, I'm pretty sure, that he can't be active on 2 USSSA rosters at the same time. I doubt if you can be on two rosters for the same Triple Crown tournament, but I would bet that they don't care if you're on Team A for one tournament and Team B for the next.

I've seen some weird stuff, but thankfully nothing like that yet. The bigger question to me is, why would you want to be?

Don't know when you'll find the time. I know our team had played most weekends and our free weekends were precious.

But, to answer your question, I know if you play USSSA and qualify for a WS event, you can't play in a USSSA tournament on another team unless you officially get released from the previous team. There is nothing stopping you from playing in Triple Crown tournaments on one team, USSSA on another, CABA on another, Fletcher on another and independent tournaments on another. Just watch out playing within the same sanctioning body for different teams. And you certainly can't play for two different teams in the same tournament.

Apparently it is required if you play USSSA in Texas or Florida. Look at some of the U-Trip rosters of teams from those areas...War & Peace is shorter for cripes sake!

You will run into a brick wall if they both teams play in even 1 USSSA sanctioned tourney in the Spring season(even if not the same tourney). USSSA has official rosters, and a system to enforce them.

You can start with one USSSA team, then jump to another but you need to get a release signed by the original Coach. If he wont sign it, you need to appeal it with USSSA local director.

My son's played for as many as 3 in a single calendar year, but only 1 at a time, 1 per season (as to not abandon 1 mid-season), and we always strive to leave on good terms. We are also up front about out intentions.

Downside to this is burnout, no sense of permanency or loyalty, future Coaches may shy away when they see your history.

The rules are different for playing on two teams in the same age division verses playing for two teams in different age groups. You could play on a 12U Major team and a 11U major team (assuming you meet the age cutoff rules) but not in the same tournament. USSSA will lock you to one roster if you win a tournament but until that time you can play on two different teams, but like with the example above, you can't do that in the same tournament. TC does not care if you play for team A this weekend and team B the next weekend.

I would say, though, it makes for a tough environment and is hard to manage. Maybe if one of the teams is playing a very reduced schedule. I could just never see trying to manage all of that.

both u3sa and 3crown used to have a rule that you can only be on one roster at a time within the same age group.

Here's a perspective: The feeder team my son was on had a kid that played for a travel ball team and for theirs. Inevitibly it caused scheduling conflicts for the kid(s parents). I heard a lot of things like "doesn't care about our team" and "can't depend on him being there."

Seen it happen last year(USSSA) Older team gets put out on Saturday, kid shows up and plays for younger team on Sunday(even pitches for both teams)
It was reported but not one thing come of it!
The coach just has to play dumb and say he did not no any better! PAAALEEEZ!!!!!!

Our son played for 2 different teams at age 9, an AABC team and a USSSA team. The results were - mixed. At first, scheduling was a bear. There were tournament conflicts as we tried to fully satisfy both teams. The USSSA team was scheduled to play 60+ games whereas the AABC team about 35+. Early in the season though, our kid developed bursitis in his throwing shoulder from being over-pitched and we had to take a month off for rest. However, this forced us to request from both head coaches a season-long practice and pitching schedule which made things a whole lot easier. We were then able to tell the coaches what games, tourneys, and practices we could reasonably make. They were OK with our proposal.

Still, there was fallout from the AABC team over "loyalty" and it pretty much spoiled what had been a good relationship between our son and his teammates and the relationships my wife and I had with those team parents - not all - but some. We also learned that travel ball on one team is about all we could really handle. The AABC won State that year and the USSSA team did very well in Disney and we played a big part of those successes.

But we did learn some life lessons about stability, continuity, and friendships. Was it worth it in the end? Probably not.

MAMA : you have to ask yourself , specifically why would I want my son to play on 2 travel teams at once?

What would I truly accomplish by doing this ?

I can tell you while it may sound prestitigious to as few it appears far out of perspective to most others ,the players & the parents image.

If he is anywhere under 15 years old I wouldnt even consider it , just the personal dynamics of doing 2 teams would be no where near as favorable as being loyal to one team only.

Agreed, I just spent a half hour trying to figure Mizuno Glory (North Florida team) 10u out. They have ~30 kids, most who play on multiple Mizuno Glory teams at different age groups. 9's also play up on the 10 year of team, and 10's also play on the 11 year old Mizuno team.

This is why the Glory boys are so good. They are always playing up in the higher age groups (9's playing with 10's, 10's playing with 11's, etc.)

My son played for a 9u team and a 10u team last season and it ran us ragged! I would not recommend it, its to much for a kid. He has no time to be a kid.
