If your son plays Majors, its a non-issue. But if you have a son playing AA or AAA and his team has dreams of winning a State title, or playing a World Series, it becomes a big deal. The reclassification report attempts to flush them out, but some always fall thru the cracks.

I read where USSSA reserves the right to re-classify at any time, but will they really do so?

At the younger age groups (and for newly formed teams at all ages) some Coaches just make honest mistakes because they dont know the strength of their teams in relation to the rest. Thus, this is more of an issue for the 9's, 10's I suppose. By 11's and 12's Coaches should have a better idea of what they've got.

Nothing unless the parents and/or coaches are making a big deal about the bling.

I've only been watching for 3 years, but I've never seen anybody consciously sandbagging. If anything they play up too high and get their brains beat in.
