Congrats to the Astros on their championship at the Slugfest. Also congrats go out to Bulldog Baseball for winning that Battle on the Hooch NIT going 4-0 and outscoring their opponent 50-10. Also to the East Cobb Stallions for going down to Florida and winning the Gulf Coast Rumble going 5-0. Way to go guys! |

We also need to give a "Good Job!!!" shout to the Braves Baseball Club. They won their 2nd tournament this past weekend at East Cobb with a pretty strong AAA field. |

I noticed that the NFBA Bulls team that is playing in the Atlanta Super NIT was at the Florida tournament where the Stallions played last weekend. Can anyone from the Stallions tell us about them? |

The North Florida Bulls were in the tournament, but they were knocked out by the Florida Avengers in the Quarter Finals after getting the #1 seed in pool play. From what the Florida coaches tell me, they are the team to beat each week in the panhandle. Some of you guys might remember the Pensacola Titans that won the Smoltz-Grissom at 10U. Many of those players, including a man-child, are part of the Bulls. I think they will be very tough in pool play, but are not very deep in pitching for the long-haul. From what the coach told me, they are trying to develop a Terminators type situation up there to get the best players in the region, even if they are from Alabama or Central Florida.
The other thing I learned about those Florida teams is that the Florida USSSA Director does not regulate how teams classify themselves. It's a little like the Dalton Tiger situation in that if they classify themselves as Major, there is no one to play without driving 3-4 hours. So they all classify themselves as AA and AAA and get away with it. The Avengers have no business being a AA, or even a AAA for that matter. But they don't get reclassified each year like we do here in Georgia.
Hope that answers the question Columnist. |

N Fl Bulls are also listed in the Mazzone. I had heard the were good. Diamond Dawgs are decent also. They could also be one of those teams that would be major in GA |

We played a Diamond Dawgs from Bay County (Panama City area) I believe in the Gulf Coast Rumble. Not sure if that may be same team and should have been listed a Florida Team?? |

The Battle in the south website has the Terminators listed as TN team also. Maybe the tounament director (Doc) is trying to make it look better since he won't let any other TN team in except the Knoxville Stars. Not that I have any sour grapes or anything. |
