Just to put a few facts out there and possibly clear up the misguided rumors of recent posts...
> ALL Mizuno Glory 10U players live in FL. No one was picked up, flown in or in any way compensated for coming to Atlanta. We bought our own gas and paid for our own hotels happily, to see our sons play against some fantastic competition.
> The official USSSA roster lists 16 players currently. 12 came to Atlanta. 11 of the 12 have played Glory baseball exclusively this season. (Remember, 2009 listing on roster also includes last fall!) The other recently moved from CA to FL. ...By the way, the only other "San Diego" player has been an original GLORY player for years. He was a guest player for the Stars when they came to FL last summer for the Elite 24.
> Our boys work hard, and dedicate themselves to the game. They are average 10 year olds who enjoy pizza and video games, just like your boys. They play hard, win some and lose some. They aren't perfect machines. They aren't "just a number" to the coaches, and to say that the parents "don't even know each other" is ridiculous.

To ILoveBaseball: Sorry if there were any incorrect posts concerning your team but I know that you realize how people talk at the ballfields and most posts were only repeating what they had been told by other coaches or parents.
Your roster was confusing to some in that players were listed on multiple rosters one even being from Beaver Valley Reds that is the #3 team in the country. There were also listings from another ranked team, Rawlings Patriots that play in Florida. If these were your players helping the Patriots and not the Patriots helping Mizuno then we owe you an apology and you have it. There are several other players listed on other Florida rosters and that confused people. USSSA should have the rosters current and these questions might not have been asked. Even you must admit that looking at the roster it looked like players were picked up. Was the Beaver Red player with you in Atlanta and do you plan on using him at Disney as it doesn't appear fair to freeze him to a roster that he didn't play with.
I disagree that Mizuno Glory is the #7 ranked team in the nation and would vote for them to be #1. We play with the Bandits and you know that we have played the best there is and none are close to your team. Your boys are awesome and play the game as good as any that I have ever seen. Congratulations on a well deserved victory and we look forward to seeing you again in Cooperstown.

It is not always as simple as a kid playing and helping a team. Many times a kid leaves a team and starts to play with another and never goes back to the first team. That is what has happened with the players that were on the Patriots. They just were not released from the Patriots.

FlBaseballFan: Thanks but you didn't mention the Beaver Valley Red player. Was this a mistake or does Mizuno plan on using him in Disney and was he in Atlanta with the team. |

Hmmm... I thought they had to be released before they could play with another team.

They don't have to be released until April 1 when the roster freeze, or when your roster freezes from winning a Super NIT.

ecbstix: It absolutely is and I am proud that my 12 year old plays with the Chiefs. Who says that you can't have it both ways. My 10 year old plays with his classmates and friends from a very small village and my 12 year old plays with a talent laden team filled with players from a regional area including Florida. Before you come up with a post that asks which way I like best I will tell you now. I like the 10 year old way better but that is just me. I can also tell you that when my 12 year old was 10 years old that he played with the Chiefs with much the same philosophy as the Bandits use now. As he progressed his coach decided to build his team from a larger geographical area and this appears to be working well for them. Do not get confused as I understand the Chiefs roster is permanent and these are not borrowed players but have committed to playing with the Chiefs for the entire season. Big difference from what this post suggested Mizuno was doing and it appears that we shouldn't trust all that we read as Mizuno stated that there players were also not borrowed. So if you like the new Chiefs Players get used to seeing them a lot.

WOW!! Baseball Papa, how in the world do you judge people for putting there kids on teams that recruit players and you are doing the same thing. There is no difference. The Chiefs are borrowing three players from Team Easton (Tampa) this weekend to play at East Cobb. The Fire player does not play with the Fire any more. The real Fire broke up in January but the player in question left in the fall. One of the players from Easton is only 11. The other two throw around 75. The Chiefs are doing the same thing that the Georgia teams are supposed to be above. I see nothing wrong with it, just a little hypocritical if you ask me.

Read my lips Florida baseball fan. What Mizuno had been accused of is borrowing players for a weekend and then letting them go back to their real team when they get back home. If the Chiefs were doing this then I would totally disagree with them just as I have you. It is my understanding that the Florida Fire boys you refer to are not borrowed weekend players but permanent additions to the Chiefs roster. You stated that the kids in question for Mizuno were not borrowed but permanent and when you stated this I apologized and stated that I did not have a problem with permanent players wherever they come from. I also stated that I prefer the 10 year olds way better but see nothing wrong with either way. Read my posts about choices where I said there is nothing wrong with either way I just prefer the 10 year olds team way a little better. If you are down there borrowing players for a weekend or the Chiefs are up here borrowing players for a weekend then you are both wrong but I don't think the Chiefs are doing this. |

First of all your information is a little cloudy. It is my understanding that these kids are committed for the year. Do you know something we have not been told? No borrowing.....Big difference. I also know that the Team Easton kids showed up at the ATL Super NIT park wearing their Chiefs gear.....Hat, shirt and pullover. That doesn’t sound like pick-ups to me. Maybe you should check your info. I will tell you I don’t disagree about picking up kids necessarily. Kids get hurt, Parents get mad. When "Lil Bo" doesn’t get to play shortstop it happens. I believe field the best you can, the most competitive. If they show week after week then so be it ! I don’t think baseballpapa is being a hypocrite. I think he is getting to enjoy the best of both baseball worlds. I am jealous are you ? |

Mayb we should think about the kids and not a Coaches EGO or Ive got the best team. There is a Bunch of talented teams here n GA |
