While warming up to pitch the championship game of the State Triple Crown Baseball tournament Chaney Rogers of Bandits Baseball(#20) arm popped and we are not yet sure of the extent of the injury so we would ask that you all lift up a prayer for Papa's grandson.
I also want to quash the rumors that had already started at the field that he was throwing curve balls in warm ups and that he had been overpitched. These rumors could not be further from the truth. Chaney had only pitched 2 short innings in the tournament and was well rested. Chaney has never thrown a curve ball in his life and does not snap his wrist when throwing the baseball. It was nothing short of an unfortunate happening that could have happened to any pitcher.
We will be taking him for MRI's tommorrow and ask that all our friends keep him in your prayers. We thank each of you that will be praying.
Papa, Our thoughts are with Chaney. Hopefully it will turn out as just a scare and nothing serious and before you know it he will be back on the bumb throwing a "Shut Out"!
I have never had the chance to see the Bandits play, but I do use your words of wisdom as guidance my own son's 9U team. I will be praying for your grandson.
We just heard about your grandson. Chaney is a great kid as well as a great competitor. We will be prayer for Chaney and your family. We hope to see a healthy #20 on the field ASAP!
I just heard about Chaney and want to let him and baseballpapa know that we are thinking of ya'll in South Ga. We had three kids early this year that did the same thing, it turned out that the growth plate was detatched,and it just took time and now they are throwing the ball just as well as before. We have just got the news from the sports/medicine clinic that Chaney's injury is not as bad as we feared but bad enough that he is through pitching this season as we will not take any chances with his arm. He will be able to attend Cooperstown and will get to play some and hit all the time. Thanks to all that lifted prayers and we want you all to know how much this family loves this game and I think in the long run it is because of all the wonderful people that we have been able to meet and share our passion for the game of baseball with. Thanks many many times.
There was a minor separation in his throwing elbow at his growth plate but compared to his non throwing elbow was minor and did not require the screw. It will heal on its own in approximately 6 weeks but it will probably be much longer before we begin throwing again.

They call it "Little League Elbow". Papa, make sure when he starts back he really pays attention not to get that arm angle out away from his body. This is what causes extra pressure on that elbow growth plate.
You mentioned he would continue to swing. I would be very cautious with this. I have heard that even though he may not feal pain during a swing with this type of injury it can still do damage. The best thing for him is nothing but rest and be back next year.
Glad to hear you received good news and the injury was not as bad. You are so correct about the wonderful baseball family. We too have been very blessed this season as the community has been such a part of our journey and prayers are answered every day. We too are going to be able to enjoy the Cooperstown experience this weekend thanks to a special person from the baseball family. Best of luck to your grandson for a speedy recovery.
