Between 400 and 600 gate fee's for 3 GG and then paying team gate fee along with sanctioning fee's when is it going to get too expensive for teams to play in full schedules. Many academy teams are scaling back to 5 and 6 tournaments or holding their own with their own teams but who wants to play less?? Teams are paying almost 200 bucks per game now.Did i even mention the sanction fee's? BPA. USSSA. blah blah just to register for an event you have to pay a sanction in order to spend money. wtf |

When teams stop playing in them. Why would these organizations change anything when teams keep going back to play with them year after year? There are plenty of teams out there that "scrimmages" can make up for some tourneys at a fraction of the cost if you cant/don't want to pay the tournies fees etc.
Unless teams stop playing in those high dollar tournies, nothing will change. |

Son is at D1 now, but his travel team played alot of local games and only the larger tourneys for recruiting like PG, Ft Myers & Jupiter. Fees were low and comp was good. The days of tourneys every weekend sort of ended for us after 14U. |

What used to be 4GG are now 3GG and cost has gone from about $350 to about $550 in less than 2 years. Scrimmages get tougher as the field space gets set aside on weekends for tournaments to rent |

^^^This is the bottom line..........if there is demand, someone will supply and satisfy that demand.......with no demand or insufficient operating funds, something will have to change or non-existence will become a reality. |

When it becomes more about the players and them needing rest and being developed, than it does about winning a trophy. |

the academy teams only do it to save money they are not developing AA players for college. BUT many hold their own tournaments between their own teams to save cost. If you did not give trophies and cut cost $20 which is about what trophies are worth teams would still play. ITS about competition. People want to compete i disagree teams play to hunt they play for the love of competing |

Some of the lower age teams, 10u and under are very much in it for the hunt for trophies. My son found his way onto one of those teams around that time and although they were winning pretty much every weekend they played against teams that were so inferior it wasn't fun for him. When the championship game is a mercy rule event it's not about competition it's about the hunt for trophies. |

I actually blame trophy hunting on tourney directors as well as knowledgeable coaches who are aware of what a particular team is doing. I have seen teams win AAA tourneys and then sandbag their way into a AA World Series. The TD had seen them in the required tourney beating teams by double figures at the AAA level but still let them sandbag and register for the AA side of the WS. I was disappointed that coaches familiar with them stood silent on what they were doing. That's blatant trophy hunting. The best part was that another sandbagging team took care of them. |
