Brackets are out. Several very good Georgia teams are in this one.
national ranked Arkansas Seminoles Stixx Baseball Georgia Grip HP Chili Dogs Black Kennesaw Express 10AA state champs Georgia Force
Should be a good tournament.
Anyone have any opinions on this one? |

Hey Bmoser, we drew the Georgia Force in pool play and I saw that your son's team played them at least once during the state tournament. Got a scouting report for me?? |

Papa doesn't predict but knows a lot about the Georgia Grip. If their pitching is on they could be a handful and they are also my sentimental favorite and I will be pulling for them. But Good Luck to all and it looks like it is set up to be an exciting week of baseball. |

No predictions but it looks like the Kennesaw Express drew both the Stixx and Arkansas Seminoles as their two pool games. Tough draw.

Good luck to all of the Georgia teams. Hopefully, like Cooperstown 10 week, it will be an "all Georgia" final. |

Grand Slam is more inconsistent at posting results than USSSA, so dont hold your breath. They held some tourneys this year that still do not have 1 score posted, and I know they took place. i guess it depends upon the tourney director. The ATL area guys seem to be the most challenged in this area. However, we've played several Grand Slam events in Snelleville, and they've been run very well and the boys LOVE the huge trophies.

We are playing in the first session now and everything is on the computer as soon as the game is over. I think Larry Thompson and the whole Grand Slam group do a great job. I recomend all teams play in one of the sessions of Grand Slams World Series. I wish all teams could have played in the first session because the fireworks display put on by Panama City Beach for July 4th over the ocean is beautiful! |

Moser,
The tournaments I think you are referring to that are hosted around the Atlanta area are Grand Slam events in name only. Those tourneys don't include many of the things (GS trophies, ball buckets, GS Website, etc) that typically come with a Grand Slam event. Most of those tourneys are run by a local park organization under the GS umbrella and will typically provide you a disclaimer in advance that it's not an "official" GS event. We played in one of those tourneys and the progress/results were maintained on the park's website, not GS's. The "official" GS events tend to be very good at posting results. |

xtreme2008:
I don't think it wise to "lend" your brand identitiy to another group as you say Grand Slam is doing each time they let others use their name to host tourneys in the ATL metro.
Why won't the real Grand Slam officials come up here and give us their full Monty?
With USSSA's issues, there's a vacuum in the North-Central and North Eastern burbs for sure.
The Snellville "fake" Grand Slam folks do a pretty good job, w/ a little more help, they could be great. |

Session II starts tomorrow so their shouldn't be any scores. Sunday is a rain make-up day only.
I haven't had the same experience as bmoser with slow posting of scores on Grand Slam. My experience with Grand Slam has been mostly positive all the way around and PCB is a great place to end the season. I recommend these events to everyone.
Should be a good tournament this week. |

10u update: GA Grip defeats Georgia Force 8 to 1 in the 8am game. Jacksonville Yellow Jackets and Lee County were tied 2-2 when rain forced a delay. |

Thanks momof12. We sure wish #12 could have made the trip with us. We have a couple of days at the beach before we play again. Hopefully we have played well enough to get the #1 seed and a bye in the first round. Say hi to everyone for us. |

Papa, we have already implemented so much of what we have learned from you. Last night for example, we took the boys to Hooters - the one right on the beach - and they were all getting kisses from the waitresses and learning how to sling the order tickets to the cooks. I know Papa would have been proud of them. |

The game of the tournament so far had to be the Kennesaw Express vs Stixx yesterday. Both teams started their best pitchers and when I left it was 2 to 1 in favor of the Express. Express ended up winning 5 to 2.
Express plays the Arkansas Seminoles tonight at 8:30 and this should be a good one too. |

I think our ATL area teams will come back home w/ stories about some of the South Georgia players/teams they encountered down there.
I saw where Tift Count Thunder knocked off HP Chilidogs Black today. I'll bet these Southern GA teams muster up a few more "upsets" before this one's done.
Lee County, Tift County Thunder, Georgia Force, ect.. just because we have not seen them, doesn't mean they can't play some ball.
Add them to all the talent we already knew Georgia has, and that makes the Peach State even stronger than we thought.

Papa is so proud of his boys. They are chips off the old block and appear to really be learning about this great game of baseball and I mean on and off the field. Good job guys.
Be sure and remind them if any of the girls act like they know Papa that they have must have me mixed up without another older gentleman that looks like Papa. |
