Howdy

Would anyone know if there is an official SFHS feeder team? and if so, how can I get in touch with them?

Thanks

As far as I know, there isn't one. My son will be a freshman there next year, and plays for a coach who has a kid on the team at South now, so I assume I'd have heard. South does run a baseball camp through the county every summer, and it was recommended to me that my son attend that this summer as a rising freshman.

Thanks for the info! I know some schools are ramping up their feeder programs, and It would be nice to see SFHS do the same.

Good luck to your son

I'd be interested in South's feeder program as well, especially since the middle schools don't offer baseball.

There is something in the works but not sure if it will be for this season or next. Be on the lookout for announcements in the future.

BallFan123 -

Tom Bass is the pitching coach at Lambert. He has for years coached a 13U team out of Dunwoody (Diablos Baseball). He's moving up to coach 14U next year. Practices will be split between Dunwoody and Lambert. While this past year's team was mostly Dunwoody & Sandy Springs kids, he hopes to attract talent from Lambert and other surrounding areas.

Coach Bass has made it clear that this is NOT a feeder team. But if your son is going to Lambert, I would think it can only be good to get some time in front of one of his future coaches.

Let me know if I can answer any questions about the Diablos program. My son was on the 13U gold team and plans to try out for the 14U team after a great experience this past year.

Tryouts are coming up soon. Go to www.dsbdiablos.com

Bball:
There is actually a feeder program up and running for South that has just started. It is essentially run through 2 aspects. The 12's and 13's will be done through Team South Forsyth - partnering up with Team Elite. As the program is gaining steam they will transist these kids next year into the 13's and 14's. They will have some kids outside South district as they will not be able to draw in all the current talent at the AAA and Major level this year however the goal is to do so in the future knowing that a lot have already commited elsewhere and they need to prove a good quality product the initial season. They actually have tryouts tomorrow (Saturday) at South (Baseball facility) and a few other later dates through Team Elite. We will also have the Jr War Eagles which will be an 11u and 8u team that has tryouts next weekend at South (softball facility). The Jr War Eagles are almost solely all kids from southern forsyth county but will not rule out kids from just outside the area (i.e Midway, Milton, etc) as well. Hopefully this helps if not I know the Head Baseball Coach at South Forsyth Russ Bayer has spearheaded this along with Jeff Stephens. You can reach Coach Bayer at rbayer@forsyth.k12.ga.us For the 12's and 13's you can contact Mike Gearhart with Team Elite at mgearhart@bellsouth.net

After this season it seem Coach needs to start worrying more about the Varsity War Eagles and not the Jr's.

any good HS coach will tell you being on or off the feeder team has no bearing on who makes the school team. Those on it think they are destined and those not think they have no chance. Nothing could be further from the truth as its just a lot of wording teams use to draw talent and charge more. Sort of a wink wink between school booster club and a high priced travel team.

Most top HS teams have players who play at all sorts of programs, 643-roadrunners, local parks, east cobb, etc etc.
