* What do you folks feel is the overall difference from 15U to
16U travel ball? What are your thoughts?

1) How many tournaments on average in comparison with each age
group?

2) Overall price comparison (Higher, Lower, or Same)?

3) Each player possibly becoming more of a positional player
instead of multiple positions?

4) Perhaps less players due to difficulty level which in turn
leads to more bench time?

1. same number
2 little higher
3that should have happened at 15
4 more players as teams are greedy and have no problem stockpiling the bench

Parents have quit posting on message boards for the most part at 16u.

Why? Does something happen at 16u I am not aware of?

I guess our concerns about our kids change? Less parents have kids playing at 16u compared to 12u. I am sure there are other reasons as well.

Priorties....

Parents care less about "how their sons' team 'ranks' among the 'state'." They care more about "how can the coach/team/org. help my son get to the next level (college)." It's no longer about the parents and their bragging rights. Gone are the days of the cozy confines of 200' fields with -10 tramproline bats and everyone batting .800. The landscape changes. Mom and dad aren't driving them to games any longer (and may not even come to games). It's not about the parents. It's about the kids' future.

Gone are the days of "how does my son's team compare to his all-star buddy's team". Nope. It's either about the next level, or just for fun (hobby). And with college on the horizon, parents and the student-athletes are focused on getting into college (academically or athletically or both). Priorities change, and the 'end goal' isn't winning the USSSA Elite 32, or Cooperstown or the SlumpBuster in Omaha. Nope, it's the next level, and getting their son there, rather than thumping their chest on a forum due to the team name their associated with.

That makes sense! I do think talking about the next level would make for good discussions, but I suspect most go to the very active HHS baseball forum for that. I am feeling nostalgic. I have been reading this forum since 9u and now my son is a rising 15u. It is sad to see that my visits here will soon come to an end. Like everything in life.

I for the most part stopped posting here after 14U, but still read and post periodically. Good info on the other site

I'm another who doesn't post too often anymore now that my son is in high school. I do try to skim the threads every few weeks though and to post my perspective, mainly for the parents of younger kids. I was so grateful to the parents of older boys who responded to my "newbie" posts when my son was 8 and 9 years old. There are all kinds of voices on here, and all of them really helped me figure out what kind of baseball parent I wanted to be.

So, don't go away and stop posting. Every month some parent of an 8u rec ball player stumbles on this forum and needs some good advice from people who have already lived it!

(So grateful to people like bballman who have been voices of reason over the years!)

Thanks Newbie BB Mom!!

My son has been out of college baseball for 3 years now, but I still patrol the boards here and there and pipe in once in a while...

That's awesome. You know what they say, we are never to old to learn new things. That's why I get on here to keep up with the latest baseball info.

This age is about the kid now and not team.
At this age some are into the pg rank. Players like it at this age. that rank is not a true rank sometimes. it doesn’t consider level of teams u play. Some teams use it to try an boost the program.
