Doing some research on spring tourneys, and curious of other's thoughts on where to play, etc. Of all the big(ger) organizations, PG is the only one to adopt the USA bat standard... I know it's early, but it appears that there isn't hardly any interest in PG's tourneys, at least up til now. Is that due to the bat standard change? Folks not wanting to go spend hundreds on an additional bat for 1 or 2 tourneys in an already expensive (re: Cooperstown) year?

So, if not PG, where? USSSA? Triple Crown? TravelBall Select? Training Legends? Grand Slam?

Can play PG with wood. The real MAJOR teams would not run from it. Can't swing a -10 composite bat forever.

What? The 2 "real MAJOR" teams? That'll be a great tourney. HA!

My thoughts on PG is that it is cool for a 12u team to play on artificial turf. If I recall the tourney costs aren't that different than TC.

My thoughts on the new bat, don't bother getting one, either purchase one for the whole team or swing wood.

Grand slam is usually a portal to get to the PCB tourney, if you are going to Cooperstown I wouldn't bother with Grand Slam this year. USSSA at 12u has about run it's course, I wouldn't bother with them either. I remember seeing a 14u USSSA "state championship tourney with 5 teams entered...hehehehe, it was amusing, but probably not for those parents.

During 12u we played a lot of fundraiser tourneys for other 12u teams. They were cheaper than TC/PG and they helped out a team with money for Cooperstown.

Yes, the turf is 'cool', and online profile plus all-tourney teams are an added 'coolness', but like you said, probably not worth the new bat investment.

T/C seems to be getting attention from Majors, upper-AAA teams, but are SO expensive. TravelBall Select is so much cheaper for the same fields (ECB), but just lacks popularity.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe more 12U teams will chime in.

There’s only 2 “real MAJORS” in GA. Period.

@turntwo
Who are the 2 Sir? I heard 4 or 5 teams have stacked up. Smartence (sp?) is suppose to be the team to beat.

Colt .45's- Hudson
Tribe
(Disclaimer: not sure either have the depth for more than 3-4 game, Sun-only tourney).

Have yet to see CMSB.

Kennesaw/Smartense 5-4 (combined) against 'quality opponents'.
