Mill Creek Hawks-Red team is looking for 2 players for the 2011 season. Ideally, this person would have a strong bat and be an excellent fielder. Pitcher and/or Catcher are always a plus. Mill Creek plays a competitive AAA/Major schedule so the candidate should be of that caliber. Tryouts will be at Bogan Park on July 25th at 4:00 on field 6. Contact Steve Cullen c- 678-521-9650 or stephen.cullen@philips.com

Season Highlights:
Mill Creek Shootout Champion
SC State Qualifier Champion
Easley Oakley tournament Runner up
2nd Annual Touch ‘em all classic Runner-Up Gold Division
Paneless Auto Glass Showdown Champion
South Carolina State Tournamanet Champion

What is the coaching experience of your coaches? Are you going to Cooperstown next year? Are you going to play GGBL? Are you going to play USSSA or just stick to the smaller groups like the past?

All of our coaches played higher level baseball.

We do not have a berth to Cooperstown. I have had a lot of people who have mixed emotions on going to Cooperstown so we will do what the families want to do. After all, it is for them and their children as to why we do this.

I will be a tournament ONLY team. We do not play a lot of USSSA tournaments because of a few reasons:
1) I, like many, do not like the slashing rule at this age. It is not safe for the kids.
2) I do not believe USSSA is run as well as the "smaller" ones. Actually, I am assuming you are referring to Nations and Grand Slam which in my opinion run a very good tournament. The tournament they had this summer which brought the best of the best to Winder was the envy of a lot of the bigger ones.
3) I have found the competition in GS, Nations, and some independents brings out just as good of competition as any other association.
4) Officiating at USSSA tournaments can be somewhat inconsistant from what I have seen in the few I have been to. I understand they can be on all associations.
5) The last time I played in a USSSA tournament in Cumming, it was run the worst of any tournament I had been to in years. The TD was not on site and the schedule was herendous.

So, to answer your question, I will be playing a AAA/Major schedule. If there is a good tournament ran by TC, USSSA, Nations, Grand Slam or any other, I will go to what I believe is the best one for us. The issue we dealt with this year was pretty basic. The economy is bad and I tried to stretch our money as far as I could. We won a couple of tournaments in South Carolina that gave us FREE entree into other tournaments. I try and get the most we can for our money. These boys want to play ball and I do what I can to let them do that as much as I can. The more games we play in a tuornament the better. I do not believe in getting into 10 tournaments a year that I am goin got gt beat in teh first game of the championship bracket and we gt a total of 30 games a year. I play in a few of those, but mix in some that we can go deep in as well. Hope this helps.
