The West Cobb Red Sox is a new team forming for 13U travel ball. This team will have an intensive focus on developing hitting skills which will be primarily driven by the Red Sox' dedicated hitting instructor, Ron Raper, as well as a first class indoor hitting facility (owned & operated by Ron) from the Fall through the end of the season in mid-to-late June. We believe that significant improvements to one’s hitting doesn’t happen during team practices, but rather requires high-quality, one-on-one instruction in a sustained fashion over time. Additionally, plans for a full-on baseball academy with greatly expanded facilities are now underway.

Coaches Michael Funk & Doug Dyson, who both played collegiate baseball, will work hard to prepare the players on this team to compete at the high school level stressing teamwork and the myriad skills required to be successful in high school ball. We are a faith based team that will stress the development of not only fundamentally sound baseball players & tough competitors, but also quality young men that respect the game, their coaches, their teammates and fellow competitors. If you are interested in learning more about this team, please contact either Michael or Doug. Please look for add’l posts to this web site for updates on initial workouts and eventually a tryout date/time.

Where is your home field? Also is this a open tryout or do you have kids already committed?

This Morning's Tryout for the Red Sox

We have been very pleased with our response to date... for all those interested in attending the Red Sox Tryout who haven't yet contacted us, no problem. Just show up at Hillgrove H.S. between 9:30 and 10am for registration. The tryout itself is still scheduled for 10am-12noon. I think all that come will find it to be a quality tryout experience, at least that is our goal. Thanks!

We continue to look forward to a great tryout this evening from 6-9pm, with registration beginning at 5:30pm. The current weather forecast is not good. Please look to this web site for any updates prior to 5:30pm in case the sky decides to open up... otherwise we will see you at Hillgrove between 5:30 & 6pm. If you have any questions, you can reach me on my cell at 678-525-3971.
