Pinecrest Summer Baseball Camp for boys 7-12 years old is fast approaching. The camp will go from Monday, July 19th – Friday July 23rd, from 9:00 to 12:00 each day, ending with pizza at CiCi’s on Friday. Our varsity coaching staff and many of our varsity players will be running the camp.
Each player will receive Pinecrest Baseball “relentless” (our team motto) t-shirt, so register soon as we need an accurate count in the next few days. Also, please note this IS NOT restricted to only Pinecrest boys; so any friends of your son are encouraged to register!
The objectives of the camp are to teach baseball fundamentals so the boys leave the camp knowing the right way to play and what they can work on to improve as they grow. We also hope to inspire the boys to develop to play Pinecrest baseball in a manner that best positions them to one day become a Pinecrest varsity baseball player!
Key fundamentals we will focus on (adjusted for age and ability):
· Throwing
· Pitching
· Hitting
· Fielding ground balls (infield)
· Turning double plays
· Fielding ground balls (outfield)
· Catching fly balls (outfield)
· Specialty position coaching
Catcher – receiving and throwing out runners
o First base – receiving throws
· Base running
Every participant will learn all of the above and will not be limited to any “specialty position” as so many are caught in today even at young ages.
