Hello to all 12 and Under teams that are "up and running" this fall. While hosting our 2nd Annual Back to School Bash this past weekend we learned that Coach Troy Roberson of the North GA Bandits has a son who is battling cancer. This has been a 3 year fight according to Coach Troy.
Without going into a bunch of details we are simply asking for your help on the weekend of September 18th and 19th in Carrollton, GA. We would like to turn our 2nd Annual Fall Bash into a fundraiser for Coach Troy and his family. All proceeds will go directly to Coach Troy and his family.
The tournament will be hosted at the Carroll County Recreation Department in Carrollton, GA. The West GA Bandits family will be in charge of the event.
Entry fee will be $200.00 dollars (and anything above and beyond that would be greatly appreciated)
The county has already agreed to allow us to use the fields free of charge for the weekend.
There will be no awards given out other than the satisfaction of helping this family in a time of need!
There will be a 3 game guarantee (2 pool play games followed by single elimination bracket play)
We will have a great time playing some baseball, and will help out a family in the process. Come on out and show your support for Coach Troy!
Contact Information: Rodney Kay 770-317-3159 rkay1313@charter.net
FIRST 12 TEAMS WILL BE ACCEPTED: We just don't have field space to accommodate more

Per Rodney addressing Papa in the 12U Rankings Forum:
Just as I suspected I have already received many many phone calls in reference to this tournament. We believe in the same "family" that you speak of and we look forward to helping out in any way possible. Know that Gage will be added to every prayer list possible out here in West GA. Here is who we have committed so far:
1.) West GA Bandits 2.) North GA Bandits 3.) Cartersville Rookies 4.) East Cobb Stars 5.) 6.) 7.) 8.) 9.) 10.) 11.) 12.)
THANK YOU TO THE ELITE GAMERS FAMILY FOR EMAILING AND COMMITTING TO SEND A DONATION EVEN THOUGH THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THAT WEEKEND DUE TO FALL BREAK!!!!!!!!!
Please feel free to post this anywhere you would like Papa and post my number and e-mail address with it!

Coach Rodney: What a gesture on the part of yourself and the West Georgia Bandits. This unselfish act of kindness and compasssion just reinforces why Baseball Papa thinks the game is about a lot more than just the game.
The games teaches our kids to play baseball but it also teaches many life lesson's that have little or nothing to do with baseball. One of the concepts the game teaches is Team or as Papa calls it "FAMILY" and like it or not we are all a part of this great baseball family.
On behalf of the Bandits Papa would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Coach Troy and his family has contributed so much to youth baseball that there is not enough space in this forum for me to list it all. This is one of the greatest families that anyone could hope to meet and I count it a true blessing from above that I have had the opportunity to share a piece of my life with them and them with me.
Gage is putting up the good fight but has had some setbacks recently and we should all pray for Gage and the family. I truly believe that God will exhibit his healing power and that things will be better soon. I can tell you that you will never meet a more courageous young man and that give up is not in this young man's vocabulary.
Coach Rodney, I will be talking to the assistant Coaches and although we have many playing football you can count on whatever Bandits are available to be there even if Papa has to find some girls to fill the team out.
This should help you a lot as I know for certain that there are many out there that would love the opportunity to get some of ole "Baseball Papa".
Thank you again

Guy's
If there is any way that you could make this tournament work in your schedule it would be greatly appreciated. Pick up players if you need but take this opportunity and help out if you can.

Papa-Troy;
In one way or another you can count on Team Florida. We may not be able to compete in the tournament but we will help financially. Our prayers go out to Gage and the whole family. I can promise that in the end of competition these kids are all friends and will help out fellow ball players, this is what youth baseball is all about. |

It's Troy older son Gage. He is going through some agressive treatment but I saw him yesterday and he seems to be handling it well. Just keep him in your thoughts and prayers. |

Rodney,
THANK YOU for what you are doing for the Roberson family.
I consider Troy a friend and he has discussed Gage's situation with me. Like many others, this situation has deeply touched my families heart and the Roberson's are in our daily thoughts.
I host tournaments on the N.E. side of Atlanta and I am very interested in donating my time to help you all with this fundraiser in anyway that I possibly can.
Please let me if I can do anything to help you with this.

My thoughts and prayers are with the "BANDIT FAMILY". I was so impressed watching the Bandits in the State Tourney. Great kids and parents. The Middle Georgia Moccassins will send a donation to the address listed. |
