first let me preface my response by saying my son does not catch but..... last year @ 10U one of his teammates got this mitt from Santa are really luv'd it. He and his dad said that the ball would just funnel into the pocket.
I would also recommend looking into getting the glove steamed to help break in the glove. We stopped by a baseball equiptment retailer in Alpharetta that has a Mizono glove steamer, and my sons teammate was able to participate in a 2-day catchers clinic in mid-January with no issues just 2 weeks after getting his glove for the holidays. Feel free to shoot me an email, and i'll get ya more info on steaming the glove.
As it turns out the kid who steamed the glove used to play for Dennis Jordan @ 15U, and raved about akadema catchers mitts too.
