All 3 of what most believe are top 3 go down in the same weekend, and maybe the top 4.
Ringold takes out the Yankees 6-1 up north, OTC beats the Longhorns 6-1 and 6-4-3 beats the Yard Dogs 4-3. (The 4th 6-4-3 beat OP 6-5) in the Blue Jays Tournament. Ringold wins up north and the NC Warriors have a nice bounce back knocking off 6-4-3 in the Blue Jays ship.
At 9U you could looks at the field and pick the winner, not anymore. I'm gonna beat the drum again, there are so many more solid teams this season, it's not going to be the EC teams or Yard Dogs taking home the hardware every weekend. And I still believe the top teams will look different by the end of the season or until the next weekend! |

Even if it were seemingly easy to pick a winner on paper, the moral behind that stupid "That's why we play the game" cliche is apt to jump up and bite you at any time. We were reminded of that this weekend, unfortunately. |

The age group is loaded with good teams…maybe the best for a single age group in years. I do think 6-4-3 is a well prepared team. All the usuals are there but the new kids on the block includes OTC, Ringold and don’t sleep on the Ga Hurricanes. They were ‘dropped’ by USSSA to single A this year but are winning thru fantastic team baseball. Well coached and very energetic group that will surprise people. My money is on both 6-4-3 and Hurricanes to be among the best at the end of the season.

Agreed. Anything can happen in a game or tournament. Over the course of a season the cream will rise, however it is always helpful to see that these teams can be beat. Low scores makes it appear as if there was some really good pitching and/or defense. Congrats to all these teams, hopefully they all see each other again soon. |

How did OTC pull a 6-1 upset off over the Longhorns? The Bearcats have been struggling all year. |

Going Going Gone, the pitcher they threw had the Longhorns off balance for the 4 or 5 innings he pitched. The longhorns also had 7 errors in first 2 innings. You have to love 10 yr old baseball. The team that shows up and plays usually wins...does not matter who on paper is suppose to win. LOL |

I like to see an underdog win a game every now and then...It is good for the team that was supposed to win!! However I think we should be fair to the favorite and ask how many times in 10 would the underdog win the game?? In 100?? The better teams usually win a majority of the games at this age, but it is baseball and losing is a part of it. Nobody wins them all!! |

I like playing places where either the scoreboard is broke or someone doesn't want to run it. The boys are always asking what the score is and I always tell them first not to worry about it and then to always play like we are in the last inning with two outs and down by one run. |

Hats off to OTC and EVERY kid that played in that game, including the very crafty and talented pitcher. There are no excuses in baseball period. Every year teams, kids, organizations get better and better. The Longhorn/Yard dog game the day before was as exciting a game as we've seen. back and forth and drama all the way to the last out. Longhorns stole home with 2 outs, down 1, top of the 6th, and 2 strikes on the hitter. Yard Dogs battled to a 7-6 lead after being down 6-0 because there is zero quit in that team and they are champions for a reason. Both losing the next day may have had a little to do with a "hangover" effect from a 7-7 tie that left everyone, particpant and fan wanting more! But all teams play tough games and the Dogs and the Horns only tip their hats to their opponents win or lose. OTC won because they played better....period. All the Horns can do is learn from it and get ready for the next tournament...and I'm sure the Dogs feel the same way. Congrats to NC Warriors on a well played and successful weekend. Great team and great coaches and families. And finally, great job Joe and the Blue Jays staff! All in all it was a fantastic weekend with truly some of the very best teams in the 10U level playing in one place. Bottom line is Georgia 10U travel baseball is in a great place! Enjoy the season everyone and remember, give credit where credit is due when you post and refrain from inuendos and personal attacks on teams, kids, and coaches. It has no place and Stan is having to do way too much moderation on these forums. That's my 2 cents... |

And1 - I don't believe it's enuendos but rather playing by the rules of this website. If you post using a name or a specific example it won't be approved so if you want your post to appear you are forced to be very vague when making your point. If the point is not valid it should not be a concern to anyone.
Back to baseball, great weekend and you are correct 10U is very healthy and it's going to be a fun year! Gl on your season and this weekend at the NIT! |
