Looks like a very good field of teams. Seems to be 1/2 Major and 1/2 AAA teams.

5:20pm games stink. What an awful time to try and get kids to the park on a school night. Alot of those kids will just be getting home from school at 4:30-4:45 and they have to be at the field less than an hour later to be there for the start of the game. Stupid time to schedule games. |

baseballnutz, real curious to see how many homers your team hits at ATPP.After all homers are just mistakes by oposing pitcher maybe your ego is too big to play there but for the kids they will probably enjoy the experience. |

Spike - ego? Ok, but really I think hitting a ball 195' at 11U should be an out, plus I like seeing kids leg out doubles. |

Very interesting....guess the tournament wasn't sold out after all.
All kidding aside, does anyone know if there is any kind of system Triple Crown uses to draw the pools? If there's a system and you get a bad draw, at least you know how. |

Not sure how TC selects pools, but there is no perfect system. If I were TD, I would try to match a Major with two AAA's or a stronger Major with 1 lower Major and 1 AAA. This makes bracket play more competitive across all 3 brackets. The stronger in Gold, then competitive Silver and Bronze brackets. None wants 3 and out. It also gives AAA teams a chance to play stronger teams in pool and then play competitive baseball in the brackets. According to USSSA (I missed couple), here is where teams are classified:
East Cobb Titans AAA Alpharetta Warriors Major Roswell Hornets AAA East Cobb Astros Major East Side Thunder AAA Patriot Baseball Red AAA RBI Major 6-4-3 DP Jaguars Major Ninth Inning Royals AAA JCS Miners Major Alpharetta Athletics AAA Kennesaw Generals AAA East Cobb Team Reebok AAA East Side Hurricanes AAA 643 DP Cougars Major Sandy Plains Wildcats AAA Patriot Baseball Blue AAA Coal Mountain Storm AAA WForsyth Diamond Dawgs Major Sawnee Mt Thunder Sims Major Lula Lugnuts Major East Cobb Dodgers Major Sharon Springs Black ??? RBA Legends Major Ringgold Baseball Major Georgia Yard Dogs Major North Georgia Outlaws ??? Crossroads Baseball AAA Bullpin Bulls Black Major

Not all teams listed as a "major" team in USSSA are major! I think the pools look pretty good! I agree with Spliter's picks! |

Not sure 195' should be an out at 11u. If a kid hits a good pitch out at 195' he should be rewarded and if a kid hits a hanging pitch out at 195 then the pitcher will remember it. |

I think ATPP is small for 11U. I also think that is a part of baseball. Many major league parks are short and others are not. Regardless, two teams play on the same size feild. In the fall, we did not see an excessive amount of homeruns. One or two per game is not too many and you will not see more than that this weekend! |

195' is not accurate after recently playing there measurements were 205 center 225 power alley left but thats not the point. The point is if you feel that your too good to play on small field I'm sure the 12u group would let you play. Adult egoes are amazing just ask the kids if they want to play on small porch an see what kind of response you get it still comes down to executing plays to determine outcome since both teams playing on same field there is no advantage. |

Pitcher makes one mistake and it can change the game. Hitter is up there looking for one good pitch. Sounds like good competition to me. |

When you are on a team that is not given any breaks, your boys learn to be fighters on the field. It just makes them stronger in the long run. It looks to me like it is pretty fair except for a few pools, but I am sure that they had some special requests that had to be addressed. Should be a great weekend of baseball! |

Spike- one of the fields is 188'. I have no clue why you bring up egos? I just like to see baseball where a kid is rewarded for hitting a ball in the gap or if you have a solid outfield they have room to track a fly ball.
Waregale you're right both teams have to play on the same field - I was just making the point that ATPP and field 7 at ECB IMO are to small for 11U - That's all no ego involved. |

How big is ECB field 7? I thought the smaller fields there were 235 to the fence?
If you were remember, we were concerned that ATPP was to small for the 11u's in the fall, but there were relatively few homers and the ones I saw hit would have been out anywhere 11u's normally play.
Especially the one by the OTC kid (now with Bull Pen Bulls).
I do think they're too small but I'll admit, it does give my son a chance to sneak one over the fence

I agree that the TD should separate the top teams into different pools. For example, if there are 7 pools take the top seven teams and place them in each pool. From that point, I think it should be random placement ("blind draw"). This eliminates all perceptions that some get favoritism in pool play. For all I know this may be how its done. As long as there's a system and the TD follows every time I wouldn't have a problem. |

Interesting that pools have one to two majors, one has all majors and one has no majors. |

Pool F has a major team in it, they are simply not USSSA classed correctly. Watch the results from Pool F and you'll see........ |

Coal Mountain be my pick. If there is another organization besides USSSA that ranks AAA/Majors it would be nice to know. Looks like there could be a few 2-0 + 14 |

Over all a great tournament. Interesting seeing the lower seeds beating the highers seeds in bracket. One could think that pool is skewed some what. But in the end it can down to what it should 1 playing 2. Congrats Astros and JCS. Most exciting game I vote for Ringgold vs 643 Jags. Never seen that many hrs hit that far. Congrats Jags. |

Yes, it was a very good tournament. I was fortunate to be able to see all the games on Sunday at ECB and some very good baseball. Shout out to the 643 Jags for knocking off two highly seeded teams in Ringgold and the Warriors and certainly showed off some power in that lineup. Was hoping to see Ringgold finally play some of the bigs, but hopefully they get in another tourney soon against the top majors to see if they can regroup. IMO the most competitive game was the semi final between the Astros and RBI. Great pitching on both sides and some great defense all around. Not taking anything away from JCS as they did what they had to to get to the Ship, but that semi game should have been the final with the two best teams. Congrats to Astros for taking home the title. |

Big surprise for me was the flip in 643 teams making it to the semi's, but well deserved by the Jags. We played the Miners and they were certainly deserving of the championship appearance and are a well coached team. Astros showed they were the best team this tournament. Looking forward to more baseball!! |

Doesn't seem justified at all to claim that the Astros and RBI are the two best teams (or fair to JCS for that matter). No doubt the Astros are the best in the state. They did what they do this weekend. I do think their only loss to a local team was JCS a couple of weeks ago. JCS is also representing GA in the FL/GA this weekend as a result of their top 4 finish in the qualifier. RBI has certainly played well and that was a great game, but they haven't played as well as JCS. After the Stros, the field is deep and includes teams like 643 (Jags and Cougs), Alpharetta, OTC, RBI and JCS. Plenty of others that can win on any given day as well. |
