Ive been hearing they are a very strong team, they are in the triple crown state tourney this weekend and might be a sleeper. They out scored opponents 76-2 this past weekend at a very weak McCann classic. Thoughts |

NYO has good talent, and they do a good job of keeping kids in the park. If Cornelius is coaching, they will be good. |

Very strong showing, some of these kids have been on the same NYO teams that show up this time of the year every summer. They are a lower level major type team but perhaps they've made some big strides this year. Don't forget they could have several who have hit that spurt and become men. They will surprise a few folks this weekend. |

76-2 is very impressive no matter what the level of competition. Pretty good challenge in their first pool game, as they are set to play RBA Titans. |

Coach Rhino is there head coach and he is as good as it gets . His staff is top notch as well, 1st round game will be a true test, they certainly have some men and a coach Rhino coached team is always fundamentally sound. Should be fun to see! |

NYO is an allstar team that has been playing toether for years one way or another. They are certainly a team of men with spring and summer birthdays with something to prove. |

They are the real deal. They took the vaunted EC Braves to 9 innings on their home field. Not bad for a Buckhead rec league all star team vs. a year round travel team that recruits. We don't want to have to play NYO any time soon - that's for sure. |

looks like they seem to match up well vs. RBA beating them twice and played the braves much tougher then the last meeting. |

Mike and the boys do not recruit and are the best at elegantly aking about calls with class. Fans are great. |

some like moral victories, some use W's and L's. Still a L at the end of the day |

I like how NYO Titans tell everyone, "we are just a rec-ball team" |

They are just a rec-ball team. I talked with several of their parents over the past couple of weekends and these kids have been playing in that park since they were 5-6 years old. Only a couple of players on the team have started playing there over the past couple of years. I was very skeptical, but it all checks out and it's pretty impressive if you ask me. If this team played 50-60 games together, they would be hard to beat and would compete with the very best teams out there. |

Seriously...who cares, they are a good team, congrats move on...there are a lot of good "park" teams out there that dont feel the need to toot their own horn

NYO isn't new to the travel ball fold here. They've been popping up in Dizzy Dean and Travel tournaments for years, and tend to be very competitive teams.
The biggest observation I have over years of watching their teams from 9u up (first recollection I have of them is from about 7 years ago) is that they are a great example of what happens when you don't have travel teams out of rec parks. NYO doesn't (or haven't to this point, to my knowledge) have a regular travel team program. They play their rec league schedule, select their all-star teams, then play various rec and travel tournaments. As such, they haven't "diluted" their park talent like many of the other parks have by supporting dedicated travel teams.
So what you get from NYO is effectively able to draw from the same talent pool level that most other park teams have through the travel level. Because they play a more abbreviated travel season, they tend to be a half step behind the top major teams, but would likely field a top 10 team across most all age groups if they were to follow the traditional rec/travel park model. I can only assume that the coaching is better at their rec program level since what is perceived as the "top" park coaches aren't pulled away to year-round travel. Likewise, I can assume the rec league is more competitive across the board since the top park players are still participating in their rec league.
I do know that as the players get older, many will leave the park to play on full-time travel teams.
They're a very solid program and very competitive. No one should get surprised by these guys, and them knocking off a top major shouldn't be viewed as a major upset. Don't take them lightly. Their program just does things a bit differently than traditional travel teams (ECB, HP, 643) and park teams. Their model has kept their home grown talent in the park over longer periods of time than traditional park teams.
What is new is their parents jumping on these forums and doing some chest puffing/defending of their teams. I haven't seen that in years past. Some can only assume that a few of these new posters (less than 10 posts) mentioning they they've "heard" about this NYO team being good is really NYO parents on a fishing expedition. None of that should take away from what the park and boys accomplish. |

ITK -- ha ha ha! You nailed it! One thing for sure, it is not Coach Rhino doing all the posting about this year's (special) team. |

NYO supports it's travel teams where most other parks are REC first and travel 2nd. That is why many kids leave East Side etc. If East Side were to commit to travel ball they would have the best team in the area, but once the kids hit 9, they run for the hills! |

For Eastside it depends on the age you are talking about.

Look at the Jupiter Cardinals seeded number two at Ctown. They fit the NYO model. At this age teams get better they are a rec based team with tenure of coaching and players. They may not win but that is a heck of a run. |
