In all seriousness one of the Astros dads got bit this past Sunday on the hand by an eastern diamondback rattler and the last I heard they had administered the anti-venom and he was in ICU as of last night.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

Get well soon!

p.s. He's a regular poster on this board as well.

Thanks atk.. I am at home on pain pills and bed rest... ICU was not fun..

I am trying to make it back this week to watch my 3 kids play.

BTW- We have determined it was a baby(2 ft long) Copperhead. They shake their tail like a rattler but are more venemous because of age

I believe I will be fine once I can move my right hand again...

IBT - great to hear you are doing better. What a scary, misfortunate and just bizarre accident.

I have to ask as being bit by a snake is quite rare these days - where did this happen and what were you doing?

Copperheads are nasty little jokers for sure. Glad you're at home and doing okay. Now you have a serious choice to make.
Being a great baseball dad or a new reality show on snake wrangling in Georgia. Hope you stick with being a great baseball dad.

It happened at our new house in Roswell. I went to hook up a new hose to the wall and saw the snake. I shot it in the head with a bb gun(first mistake) and thought it was dead. I went to cut it in half and got to close(second and final mistake). It sprang up and hit me on my right hand not once but twice. Pissed me off to say the least. So much for showing my 5 yr old how to deal with snakes.LOL..I can bend my elbow now and should have full use of my hand in the next 5-7 days....Baseball is much easier...

Thanks again...

Wow, you shot it in the head and it still managed to bite you TWICE?! That is one evil little serpent!! I hope you managed to cut the little bastard in half!

Copperheads strike quickly and usually more than once if I'm not mistaken. The .22 should do it or / and a very looonnngggg shovel.
