I have a question to ask is it normal that my 11 year old loves this game so much that on sunday i went to get him out of bed and he was sound a sleep with his catching mask on i told him to get up and about 10 minutes later i went to check on him and he was up and brushing his teeth with his mask on. is this normal i know when he was 4 & 5 he would fall aleep with his mit. But this seems to be overboard

Boys this age are teetering between childhood & adulthood (teens). They do weird stuff without thinking about how others perceive it. Sounds like he has a pretty good imagination and may be a bit of a dreamer. Let him be a kid because he will likely outgrow it quicker than you'd like.

@ 4Bagger - That is funny right there!!

@Cobb Baseball Mom - sleeping with a mask on, or with his bat is fine - when he starts watching Montreal Expo games on ESPN classic, you might should start to worry, because that's die hard!

If he's still wearing the mask to bed when he's 30, be worried, very worried. Like "Silence of the Lambs" worried.

If I knew him I could comment more in detail. Most catchers I know are hardcore anyway and especially if they truly love that particular position.

I have one of a handful that have played that has caught while the others haven't. He has only caught part time and none this year at all so no sleeping with catchers gear for him.

He does sleep with his bat either in his bed or next to it as well as his glove at times.

Nothing to worry about. You need to get plenty of pics of it though for sure. He'll definately get a kick out of those pics when he gets to show them to his kids one day.

Thanks guys i still think at this age it is a little odd but as long as he is not the only odd one doing it i guess it is ok.

I definitely would not worry. My son is 10 1/2 and is a die hard catcher. This is the only position he wants to play and does it very well I might add. If I let him he would sleep in his gear as well.

I'd like to see a facebook page or the like devoted to pics of kids showing their love for the game, like mentioned above. That would be awesome.
