Phillies blew a golden opportunity. lost 6-5 gave up 5 runs in bottom of the 6th to Cincy Flames.
Big kid from Sandy Plains is playing with Cincy????? I guess some coaches want to win so bad. |

I had high hopes of an all ECB final at Cooperstown. How crazy would that have been. However the Phillies couldn't hold off the bats of the Cincy Flames and the West Pines Cobras started out fast and never let up on the ECB Select. They both did Georgia proud! great job. |

We had one extra player because we had only 10 original players who could make it. The kid played for me for 3 years before I moved from Florida. He did not pitch one inning the entire tourney. We did not fly any extra kids to play. He also batted in the 11 spot for the first 6 games. We played 6 pool, 3 bracket games on wednesday and three on Thursday. 12 total games. It was a great experience, boys worked very hard. |

Congrats to the Georgia teams this week and especially to ECB Select. ECB Select's first elimination game was against my son's team, the Milton Nationals and Select came back and scored four runs in bottom of 6th to tie and won it in bottom of eighth. Third or fourth pitcher they used (our kids called him Aroldis Chapman/dads called him Dontrelle Willis)came in and shut us down last 5 innings. Too many ups and downs to count for both teams. What a game. Select team used that comeback experience and went on a roll. Watched Select beat a very good Houston Heat team to get to the semis. Big kid hit two run HR in top of sixth (one parent said it was his 12th HR of the week)to go ahead 9-8 and the Chapman/Willis look-a-like kid closed it out. Awesome week of baseball.quote: Originally posted by tommynole99

Peashooter, don't try to discredit the ECB Phillies. The boys on that team fought and played hard to accomplish their spot in the final four. Anyone that has played this team knows that they are a talented and respectful group of young men. |

What was was really cool was watching the players, coaches, and fans from Select and the Phillies celebrating with and pulling for each other throughout the run. They both did Georgia proud! This made the experience all the more special and one these boys will never forget. |

Wow what a trip. I drove all 7 of my kids there, brutal. It was awesome, the kids from Phillies and Select were shouting in unison East Cobb and ECB. Those two teams have had some great battles in the spring between each other. This was what it's all about. In my eyes our game was just like a great championship game. We took the Cincy Flames and their fly in players all the way to the wire. Our pitcher went 5 innings and gave up one run. That was probably one of the best pitching performances I have seen. Our 1,3,4 batters hit hr to put us up 5-1. our 2 hole hitter was robbed of a hr when only one umpire of the 4 called it foul. The other 3 said it was fair but was not their call. We just ran out of gas in the 6. It felt like a football team that racks up 500 yards of offense to the opponents 100 yards but loses. We played 12 games total so we def got our money's worth. I think there were 4 teams ranked in the top 25 by youth1 in the tournament and two of the final 4 were ECB teams. We had about 35 hr total.
Best part of the experience was the speeches given by Lou the owner. classic, I can't mention what he said because my post would not be approved. |

Not discrediting them. You have to play really good to make a run there. Glad to see you had them in the final 4 from the start! |

Peashooter, you are the one that questioned who did the Phillies pick up for this tournament. I was very disheartened to see that you did not think the Phillies could do as well as they did. I didn't see you questioning who the ECB Select picked up as a player to help them make it to the final 4 so it was obvious that you didn't think the Phillies could make it as far as they did with the boys that they have. As JMO posted, there was only one extra player with the Phillies this week, and one extra player does not make a team. Your post was rather a slap in the face of the boy's and those boy's deserve recognition for their efforts and hard work without being made to think that they didn't have the talent to get them to the final 4. In your own words, you have to play really good to make a run there, and that they obviously did. |

ECB Swag, great screen name. I am gonna change mine to GA swag district. Don't let peashootblah bring the phillies down. I went back to see where his team finished in cooperstown, and needless to say they would've been able to watch us play all day Thursday. Peashootblah your comments are enjoyable to read. I know you like to stir the pot. |

Congrats to the ECB Select and Phillies for making it to the Final 4 and representing our state, more improtantly our area. It was a great week of baseball, more importantly memories, for all the Georgia teams and their families.
Even in the final skills competition it was loaded with kids and teams from Georgia.
The only tough part was the heat (last two days were brutal) and watching the Milton Nationals play ECB Select and the Roswell Hornets (Green) play the Alpharetta Braves so early in bracket play, both were great games.

JMO, it appears that a big congratulations is in order to the ECB Phillies. Not only did they spend the entire week in Cooperstown last week, but came home and was up and about on Saturday and today competing in the USSSA Final 4 AAA State Championship and was able to bring home the win!! It appears that this team is made up of some determined hard playing baseball loving boys. |

Yes, the Ga teams were competitive in week 3. The Phillies run was impressive considering how far down the bracket they had to come. They surely played more games than any other team as the 42 seed and making the semis. |
