I was at cooperstown this past week also and I was certainly impressed by the competition. That Canes Black Team from Charlotte is always good. And I was really impressed by that Simpsonville White team. They had pretty strong pitching and bats and run ruled our EC Diamondback team and a good Talahassee team and then took TPX to the wire. That game was tied 2 to 2 with 2 outs in the 6th before kid poked a 3 run shot off the handle of his red stealth bat. That pitcher that started for Simpsonville really had TPX guessing, don't know why they pulled him? I was also impressed with the Santa Clarita Redhawks team. They had some great pitching and defense and could really hit the ball. Their game with the Canes to get to the Championship was a good one. Overall great week of baseball in my opinion. |

@ rbr08 and Ball-Four....not really sure why you feel the need to run-down specific weeks of Cooperstown talent. Perhaps it makes you feel better about your teams results?
No one controls which teams come for specific weeks, and from what I've seen, every week has had a group of very good teams. The primary difference, in my opinion, is that some weeks have one or two of the true elite teams. These teams are dominant both on the mound and with the bats and it is nearly impossible for even the very good major teams to compete with the top 5 or 10 teams in the country.
Using as an impartial basis recent TBS rankings, virtually every week at CDP has had at least two or three of the teams listed in that ranking (including the honorable mention teams). Week 1 (Phenom, Stealth), Week 2 (Team FL, CF Gators, Stetson Hills, Dirtbags, Team Easton), Week 3 (Cincy Flames), Week 4 (Jax Blueclaw, RBA Titans, Team GX3), Week 5 (SoCal Outlaws, G'ville Ghosts, SBA Canes), Week 6 (OC Razorbacks, Las Vegas Hawks). I'm sure I've missed a couple of teams, but the only thing that seems clear-cut is that the second week was MUCH stronger than the others.
Instead of comparing how the week your team went was so much tougher than every other week, you should enjoy the accomplishments of your team and the experience your son/grandson/family had at CDP. That is what matters most. |

I am not upset about team results. Very proud of them for finishing tied for 5th against a solid field of teams. I wasn't running down any week just heard from other coaches and staff that week 4 was not a real strong field. Happy that a team from Jax brought home the hardware especially since my son has several friends on that team.

@ diflj I was onsite and watched a slew of games week four was weak. Lots of rec all star and northern teams with a lot of talent but not the reps. Hey to win it takes huge effort no matter what but CDP should hold a true elite tourney in the same manner.

GAFarmer...I think they do....our local umpire said the last week in August or something like that a bunch of Rich guys put together teams and bring them back. That is when most of the tournament records are broken.
Brewsters Millions...I love it. |
