My son started on the mound yesterday against the 643 Cougars. He was hit in the upper chest by a line drive off the bat of their catcher. Their 1st and 3rd base coaches did not wait for time to be called and immediately went to the mound to check on my son. As I walked him off the field, their catcher came over and gave him a small hug and apologized for hitting him. In a time when travel baseball gets a bad rap, it was great to see the sportsmanship and concern the Cougars showed for my son...thanks again.
Exactly the way it should be handled. Please stop your runners and attend the potentially serious injury. You can always reach a gentlemans agreement afterwards for the proper placement of runners if necessary.
Glad he is ok. He was pitching well and you guys are a class act also. Your coach does a good job with the team. We look forward to seeing you guys again soon. Tell your son odds are that will never happen to him again and to wear protective pads when pitching. It looked like he was. Nice job.
