Do you know why they say “That’s why they play the game”?
Last Sunday I watched the ECB White Sox (???) play the ECB Braves
(everybody’s top three pick in ECB and top 5 pick in the State).
And the Sox (???) put it to the Braves 12-8 and really it wasn’t that close.
And yes the Braves threw their best pitchers.
I know you’re all making picks based on seeing teams last year
and who picked up whom …..
And I know it wasn’t Sunday evening at a major tournament ….
but I thought all you guys using the ??? // AAA words would want to know that the Braves
got it handed to them by a (so called) ??? // AAA group of young men.
That’s why they play the game!

There was a USSSA tournament up in Monroe GA last week. From what I heard, the Championship game was between the Albany Stixx and Collins Hill Eagles with the Stixx winning. Anyone know how the Colt 45's did? What about the Elite Gamers, were they there? Were there any other teams worth noting?

Collins Hill beat the 45's 3-2 or 4-3? I know that the Eagles had a 3 run HR in the game to give them the lead.

Colt 45's lost to Collins Hill in the semi finals. These teams listed to be in the top at ECB better watch out! There is a lot of competition all around, even in the AAA division. I can't wait to see how this season ends up! The Raodrunners are stacked with talent and it sounds like the Kennesaw Extreme has picked up some talent along with the East Cobb Seminoles. Should be a good season!!

Congrats on the win..What torunament was this and who were the other teams that entered?? Time will tell how good the White Sox are once they start playing Majors on a regular basis..One game doesn't say much about how good a team really is or how bad the other may be.. Do you know if the WHITE SOX will be playing in the T.C. tournament this weekend with the rest of the Major teams from ECB?? I think if they are that will tell more about how good they really are...

The Stixx have won 2 tournaments so far one in Monroe and the other one in FL. Looks like they are trying to get back to the Disney next year...They are also playing at the Super Nit in OCT...

Not so sure if they(STIXX) plan to attend the Elite 32 or not. Cooperstown is also on the agenda and the parents have voted not to travel as much as last year. Great bunch of kids with great attitudes should give any team out there stiff competition on any weekend.

The Stixx have a very good chance to bring home the gold in the Super NIT in S.C. The field shows quite a few teams that are not well known (at least in these parts). Astros and GBC will be their biggest competition. Astros will eventually have to determine which kids will be going to the tournament from the 18 or so they currently have. Are the rosters locked for the Elite 32 once this tournament is played?

Not sure about the roster but I would think they would be frozen. I spoke with the coaches of GBC during the Elite 32 last month and they were a bunch of great guys. I agree with ya, I feel it will be up to the Stixx,GbC or Astros.

Does anyone really know how many kids the Astros really have?
it seems their is a lot of speculation on that issue. I believe what ever the outcome is they will compete with any team.

The Astros are down to 14 on their roster, many of the kids that played during the summer were just there for summer and others didn't make the team or decided to move on

From my understanding roster locks in if you win and qualify for the Elite 32...you can only add 3 more players between now and Disney if you qualify...

Hey you guys just giving you an update on the Sand Gnats vs. White Sox and White Sox vs. Braves games. The first game the White Sox played against the Sand Gnats they beat them 13-1 and pitched there best pitcher for all 6 innings. This kid played on the Braves last year. But the offense on the White Sox looked good. And the second game the Braves vs. the White Sox was a blowout at the beginning but the Braves came to life in the last 1 or 2 innings. But the offense in this game was also good by the White Sox. Another factor was that the Braves 3 biggest hitters were playing football. But one slugger showed for the second game. So that is what I found by looking out there. And best to luck of people at the Powder Springs Ball Park for triing to clean up the flood waters which might make them postpone to the Spring Season of 2010.

They are "hand picked" showcase players for two months until they decide not to play on the team and then immediately become "non-impact" players. Gotta love it.

That is true. That is the cost of qualifying early. You had better have your roster in order before you qualify because only having 3 picks can be limitation if not. A roster that helps you win a Super NIT may not be a roster that helps you win the Elite 32. In many cases it is not.

I saw the Astros play Sunday. They beat The 13 patriots 15-6 on the 12 yr old field. I only saw 9 players on the Astros team. I have heard so much about the Asrtos having a lot of players? They looked solid in pitching, with a kid without a uniform, they hit extremeley well vs. all pitchers they faced, and defensively. Did not see anything wrong with this team.

Why does everyone bash this team? Am I missing something?

Not sure about the outcome of the white sox, just know they looked like a decent AAA team. No major teams in the tournament.

I know they had a game against the Powder Springs Sand Gnats and won 13-1 this weekend. And they also played the Braves with a 12-8 win. I guess it's just another one of those teams we may have to keep an eye open for coming out of East Cobb. I do understand the White Sox are playing at a major level.

You must be a coach or parent from this team...How did you guys do in the torunament last weekend?
