I am sure there are others that know more details, but basically the Dodgers were beating Smartense pretty good in their first game. Smartense filed a protest about a fill-in players age on the Dodgers and they couldn't produce the birth certificate for the kid. So the Dodgers got kicked out of the tournament.

Did this player play for the smartense / Dunn right guys last year?

Doesn't appear that way, via USSSA roster history.
Unless you look the player up by name you cannot confirm just by comparing previous years roster history. Our son was removed from a roster and does not appear on their history but it does show up under his name. I did hear that he did play with them previously not sure when and how but they were familiar with him and I was told that at the D1 TC tournament which was prior to the UTRIP State Tourn.
