East Cobb, Longhorns, Yankees will be strong. Ga Yard Dogs Black will be very strong,,, Dacula Falcons, OTC very good teams.. Elite Gamers, Dugout Club Tiger, Ringgold Tigers Could upset teams. All have solid ball clubs just have not proved they can consistently play with the big boys. There are two new teams with east cobb who knows... what they will bring |

Several have looked at this thread but none have replied yet so I guess I’ll give my two cents.
I don’t think we will really know who the good teams are until we get into the season and they have played some. Fall wasn’t a good barometer. There were a lot of teams missing. The teams that were playing were missing players because of football. Heck, I would bet there has been player movement that has made significant changes the rosters of the teams that were playing so who knows what they will look like. I do think the teams that played 8u kid pitch will have a leg up on those that played coach pitch though, as long as their rosters are mostly intact.
Good thing for us is it shouldn’t take long to start figuring it out. If the East Cobb/USSSA tournament the first weekend in March ends up having who they say they have, then we’ll have some answers. |

As with all age groups, and every new season, there will be some surprises, both ways. There will be teams that are "supposed" to be good that struggle and teams no one is talking/thinking about that make some "noise". With all teams having limited practice time up to now, it will take a while to really figure it out. That EC tourney will be good, but most teams will be far from top form at that time. I can't wait for it to start!!!!! |

OK so if we are going to have to name names, last years kid pitch teams that should be good are the Yard Dogs, ECB Longhorns, ECB Yankees, EP Mets and OTC Scrappers. The Ringgold Tigers and West Forsyth Diamond Dawgs played some kid pitch and did pretty well. Mill Creek played some last season too. I don’t know how they did but we saw them during the fall and they looked pretty good.
9u also is going to see several strong coach pitch teams making the transition. I have seen Acworth, Oregon Park and Adcock Scorpions just to name a few all play really well.
Others that could make noise… 6-4-3 Covington Sting Georgia Braves Newnan Rookies
I’m still not going to make any guesses as to whom the best are or any sort of order. These are just teams I have seen play that made an impression. I don’t know how any of there rosters look today. There are also a lot of teams I have not had a chance to see yet. All I know is it should be a great season and I can’t wait for it to start.

Well we had our frist tourney over the weekend. I most say the weather was nice. We played in the Feb Frost hats off to Bubba Smith great tourney. We lost all three but we stayed and every game we lost to the elite red gamers 7-6 but we make our adjustments we will compete very well |

FYI - Dugout Club Tiger no longer exist, then combined with HomePlate Chilidogs in Peachtree City. |

Hard to say who the best is at this age, game changes so much...another good team to watch out for is the Georgia Canes. New and inexperienced group but a vetran coaching staff. Have seen them practice and they will be in contention by mid season! Another is 6-4-3, they too are well coached and will come a long way. |

Check out the 9U AA Forsyth Slugfest results. Mill Creek run-ruled 5 of their 6 opponents, and won the 6th game by 4 runs. I hope their Coach will move them up to 9U before S-NIT. They're currently entered as 9U AA. I can see coaches not knowing what they have in early Spring of 9U baseball, but now he knows.

The 9u Longhorns are the best team that I have seen. They won the major 9u tournament while giving up very few runs.
Congrats Longhorns!!!!!! |

Youthbaseball I agree the Longhorns are the best I've seen. I am waiting to see them match up with the Yard Dogs, they seemed to be the only team that gave them a hard time last year. I do think the Longhorns have added a couple of nice players so I will give them the early nod. Anyone know when they are scheduled in the same tournament? |

The yard dogs rely heavily on their big bats with their defense Needing some work. The longhorns have a couple of big hitters but are overall a much more skilled team. If they play each other on a large field like those out at ECB the yard dogs will have a tough time beating the longhorns however if they meet at one of those tiny fields out in Henry county the longhorns may not be able to stop the outfield popups that are homeruns in those small fields. I have seen the longhorns play and they are 9 deep on the field and if it is in the air and not over the fence it is an out. |

leebegbaseball, I have not seen the yard dogs play. do they hit up and down lineup or just a few? could not agree more that if it is not a homerun derby the Longhorns are extremely talented in the field at all 9 spots. I also saw them play at the slugfest this past weekend and noticed they have changed their batting order. It worked out well as i saw on the website that they went undefeated for the 3rd straight tournamnet and outscored opponents 48-8 with champ game being 13-1....
Congrats again Longhorns!!!! |

I know it's a new season but the Yard Dogs did not loose a game to the Longhorns last season going something like 6 or 7 and 0 and many weren't close. |

I've seen the Yankees, Longhorns, and YardDogs play. They all have some very good ball players. Right now the Longhorns have the stronger team. The teams that fielded 8U travel teams are definitely stronger early on. Especially at pitcher and catcher. When you have a 1 year head start at pitching, it make a difference. It would be interesting to know how the lineups changed from 8u - 9u. These teams benefit from adding a couple of new players each year to improve strength.
There are a lot of other teams that will become stronger as the year progresses. Especially Acworth Warriors, Oregon Park Sharks, 6-4-3, East Side Hurricanes, Kennesaw Generals, Atlanta Blue Jays, and Shaw Park Predators. Some of the kids on these teams played football in the Fall and they are just now getting their kid pitch started.
Let's see how this all turns out by mid-May. I'm sure the stronger teams will still be there but they will be joined by a couple of new teams near the top. Only time will tell..... |

The Generals stomped the Warriors last weekend and played OP tight to the last inning. Don't count them out yet. |

Kennesaw has a good team and most have played together or kid pitch for over a year, this was Acworth's 1st game with the 10 they have and from what I've heard it showed. I did get to watch them Sunday and they looked solid taking last years best team to the last out in the semi's. I am not associated with this team, I've seen most of their group play and they will get much better as this year moves forward. I am not counting the Generals out, I believe that the upside for Acworth is very high. |

East Cobb Yankees played very well over the weekend. Expect them to shine this year. |

I was shocked however that the kennesaw generals played such a close game with them. I would have thought it would have been an easy game |

FYI. The Yankees won because the game was called due to rain. The Generals scored something like 9 runs in the top of the six against their best pitching. The score was 13 to 13 when it was called |

Then how did the score become 14 to 13? Because Yankees were the top seed? |

I heard that the Yankees were controlling the game after 5 innings by the score of 8-4. Kennesaw had a great inning and hit the **** out of the ball, scoring 9 runs and going up 13-8. In the bottom of the 6th, the Yankees continued to crush the ball as well, tying the game 13-13 with runners in scoring position, with only 1 out and their big sticks up. Then the rains came. Due to the 6th inning being rained out, they had to go back to the last completed inning. Thus, the score reported was wrong. The Yankees won 8-4. |
