Longhorns noticed that too after the fact...talked to their coach and they entered because the Yankees and Yard Dogs were penciled in. What happened?

I wouldn't write off the other teams in this.

No one is writing anyone off. Just curious why some "top" teams that originally were listed are no longer playing. No one is writing any team off...least of all this poster! By this time of the season, all teams are playing well and have dramatically improved. Will still be a solid event, but certainly would have been even stronger with the Yard Dogs and the Yankees among other teams had they chosen to play. Good luck to all the teams and enjoy a great weekend!

The Greenville Pirates have a very impressive record (24-1) listed on USSSA, I'm just not familar with the teams they have played. They play the Longhorns 8 am at ATPP I guess we will find out about them quickly. As far as other teams playing or writing teams off - I don't think anyone is doing that but I do think everyone on here knows it would be a pretty big upset if any of the teams listed knocked of the Longhorns. Yes, it would have been good to see the Horns, Yankees and Yard Dogs battle but now I am curious to see if any of the teams playing can take that next step.

The Greenville Pirates are a very good team. great kids, great coaches and great fans. The Longhorns beat them 6-0 but it was a much better game than the score shows. Looks like they could face off again Sunday at 2:00 if they both win. What happened to the yard dogs and yankees? How did you guys do this weekend?

Again Big Congratulations to the 9under Yard Dogs. They played two games against top level competition. On friday night, the long-awaited matchup between the 10under Yard dogs black(majors)and on saturday the 10 under yard dogs red (10AAA). Man it had to be the game of the year with the 9under giving it all they had. The 10 majors won 3-1, with one of their best pitchers on the mound., and the 9under black won 7-0 almost throwing a no-hitter. It was also nice to see about 200 people show up at 8pm under the lights to support the Yard dog organization. Again keep up the good work and enjoy your mother's day off

How do you think the Longhorns or Yard Dogs match up against the other top teams in the Nation? There are some very good teams in Fla and out West.

I would say there is 3 tournaments that the top teams play in.

1. Elite World Series Fla./Disney USSSA
2. Triple Crown World Series in Steamboat Springs Colorado
3. Super Series National Championships in Texas.

errrm...not exactly. They lost in the semis to Outlaws Baseball. The Covington Sting beat Outlaws in the finals.

Just by the way the question was asked, pretty sure Guru already knows the results.

For others, however, Yankees took 3rd. Beat HP Chilidogs 9-1, Outlaws (AL) 12-0, PC Panthers (AL) 5-4, then lost in semis to Outlaws 6-4.

Covington Sting took championship, beating Outlaws 10-5 in final.

Now that the season is nearly over, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on who the best teams were in 9U, and who to look for in 10U in the 2011 season.

The Xplosion may be an up and coming team. They won the AA state title and are a few pitchers away from competing with the best of them.

I would give the nod to the Longhorns only because I know they have invited the yard dogs to play at least once if not twice.
