As the 2020 season is about to get underway, any thoughts on the top teams around Atlanta? Lots of movement, new teams I've never heard of, and bigger fields so only time will really tell, but curious on thoughts going into the season. It's just for fun and I know I'm missing some, so put your list out. Here's a start.

Astros Orange
BigStix Gamers
Meridian Panthers
Devine Baseball (former Dacula Elite?)
Canes (former W. Ga Warriors?)
643 Cougars
Double Plays
GAP

Does anyone know anything about Ga Gwinnett Ballers - where the kids are mostly from?

Obviously SGSA and 5 Star National are up near the top in the state and Excel Blue Wave is tough, but they don't play around Atl as much so I left them off my list for now.

Don't forget the Signature Bears...

Double Plays, GAPower and Signature Bears scrimmaged each other this past weekend.
I've heard DPs lost a set of twins that were the best kids on their team, but I'm not sure. They lost to GAPower and tied Signature Bears.
GAPower beat the DPs and lost to the Bears. They added 4 kids, with 2 of them lefties that pitch.
The Bears had a really strong pitcher in against the GAPower. His hat almost fell off his head he was throwing so hard! Had a really nice curve ball too.

This weekend Perfectgame has a tourney with the Astros Orange, 643 Cougars and GAPower. Should be a good early season test.

Good point on Bears. The DP twins went to the Canes I believe - they should be a tough team. I think DP lost 1 or two to 643 also, but every year they come out and compete hard.

The Meridian team of the past is no longer. Completely broke up after Cooperstown. The two true Parkview kids have moved up to the 14U team. The others have moved on to various teams. I think your list is pretty spot on with the addition of SP. The top Ninth inning team may be pretty good. I'd add Team Elite National and Prime to the list as well. They have picked up quite a few kids.

I didn’t know that about Meridian. So remove Meridian then add SP, Ninth Inning and Team Elite to round out the list. That’s a solid top 10. I’m sure there will be some others. With 54/80 and 60/90 it may be a while before we get to see who emerges as the top few teams.

There will be a Meridian 13U team but it is not any of the kids from last season or prior seasons. Good point on the 54/80 vs 60/90. Will be a game changer when everyone steps up to the full size field.

Slot Team Elite in for Meridian... most former Meridian players from last season are at TE in some form or fashion.

So we'll start the Top 10 with the following:

Astros Orange
SGSA Sharks (per perfectgame)
BigStix Gamers
Team Elite
Devine Baseball
Canes
643 Cougars
Signature Bears
GAPower

Ok, top 9 for now, LOL!

I did not see any of the games this weekend. From results it looks like Astros did what they were supposed to do. Any real surprises from anyone who was there?

The Astros did what they were supposed to do to and beat the 643 Cougars....BTW, the Jaguars aren't the 643 "B" team anymore, they are the "C" team. For some reason the B&C switched names. I'd say the Jaguars aren't ready for any more major tournaments any time soon.

The biggest surprise of the tournament was the 5-5 tie between GAPower and the Astros Orange. I think the GAPower played really well this weekend, and are only going to get better.

Saw TbS posted pre-season rankings for GA. They did not have Canes, but they are a new team so may be unknown. Other than that pretty much same list, different order. They did have SGSA at 5 in the state but they are right up with the Astros battling for 1 I believe. This weekend has a number of the top 10 playing plus a few others like Jackets and Bombers that are usually top 10 in older age groups so will be curious what they’ve put together this year.

Early in season and I agree but would add Sandy Plains and TG Dbacks to the mix. Here is my order based off first couple of weeks. Haven't seen Sharks or Gamers so going off last season and have not seen Canes.

Astros Orange
SGSA Sharks
BigStix Gamers
Team Elite - Black(I believe right team)
643 Cougars
Signature Bears
Devine Baseball
TG Dbacks Eastside
GAPower
Sandy Plains Wildcats

Sandy Plains and TG did well last weekend so good point to put them in the mix. If we include SGSA then we need to include 5 Star National Haynes out of south GA. They would probably be right around where Gamers are. Canes should be tough but since they are a new team and haven’t played yet it makes sense to wait on them. Team Elite does colors in the fall and names in the Spring but I don’t know what their top team will be or who is on it.

Saw Signature Park play already and they’re definitely a sleeper, along with Devine and Five Star MG. Will be interesting to see who makes the mid-season jump to the big field and who stays down.

I may just not understand the lingo, but what makes Signature Park and Devine sleepers? They’ve been right in the mix of peoples top 10 lists. Five Star MG I’m not that familiar with - is that mostly Dacula Falcons from last year? Hopefully some of the season is salvaged.

Five Star MG is mostly the old OutKast team.
I think there is a Five Star NG that is most kids from Dacula/Buford area.

That’s right. I saw 5 Star MG last year near the end of the season. They were very good.

Looks like a decent number of Atlanta teams are heading to 2 FL tournaments to play this weekend including some of the top teams in the lists above. Good luck, represent GA well. Can’t wait until we can start playing here.

Baseball is back in GA. This weekend has only a minor event but the World Series starting Monday looks like it has a pretty solid field with Canes, Excel, Cougars, OH Spiders, TG National and some TE teams. Will take a few weeks for everyone to knock the rust off but at least the kids can get back out on the field.

So far it looks like Astros Orange and TG National (SGSA) are still the teams to beat. I'd put TG National at 1, but I guess we'll see if they both make it today. From the list below I'd maybe bump 643 Cougars ahead of BigStixx and I'd add Excel right in that mix. What have others seen so far?

The Ninth Inning Royals (Edwards) had a nice major tournament win this weekend at PG. 23 teams in the field, including GAP, the 5 Star team out of Columbus, Service, TG D'backs ES, and Elite Gamers Christman.

Others have seen where Team Elite National won the PG event in Panama City Beach while knocking off Astros Orange in the Quarters?

I would just add Excel in the middle of the list. They are from AL but they play mostly in Atl and it’s lot of Ga kids.

Congrats to Astros on the championship. Excel proved they belong in the middle of the top 10. The East Coast Sox must be really good - they were scoring a ton of runs. Looks like nothing changed with Astros, TE National and TG National at the top.
