Does anyone know a lot about Dizzy Dean all star rules? If my son plays travel ball associated with a DDRec association, would he be eligible to play rec then all stars the next Spring? Also, would he have to play out of the same park he was a traveler with or could he go to another park and play rec then all stars? |

You need to be careful attempting to play travel ball and then jump to a Dizzy Dean All Star Rec. Team. There are specific rules that must be followed or you will cause your Dizzy Team to forfeit their wins. One of the rules is that you cannot miss a Dizzy Dean scheduled tournament game to play travel ball. There are many others. I would say at the least it would diffcult and at worst impossible to stay legal. |

From what I was told by a Dizzy Dean rep once. You can play travel and rec in the same season as long as you don't miss any rec league games or rec allstar games for a travel tournament or play in a travel tournament the same weekend a rec tournament is going on until you are eliminated from the rec/allstar tournament. I don't think you have to play out of the same park either. I would email someone from Dizzy Dean and ask them. You may get a completely different answer from what I got. |

From what I have seen Dizzy Dean does not police this or rec league presidents just doctor their Dizzy Dean rec league rosters. I saw a 13 yr old team play in a Dizzy Dean district tournament that was the exact same team, uniforms and all, that played in several 13 yr old travel tourneys last year. Seems like the further north you are in GA, the less Dizzy Dean polices it. I have asked some how they do this and they "claim" that their league doesn't play rec games on weekends so the kids playing travel don't miss their rec games. That must be great for those that only play rec... no baseball on weekends?! I think this kind of team approach is a joke, your either rec or travel. The point of travel ball is to play better competition so why enter a rec league district tourney? |

Heck, we played rec ball for years and had to join a travel team to play on the weekends. Seems our rec never scheduled any weekend games so they could host a tournament, make their "extra money". They already had our "league money", we weren't their concern. Rec became our weekday practice and the weekends were our travel tournaments. |

As long as he didn't play dizzy dean all stars last season through another park he should be ok. You can't jump from one park to another unless you actually moved physically, some Dizzy Dean rules make no sense to me and it seems like some team don't follow them at all which gives them an unfair advantage. Not being able to have an all star practice before May 17th or something like that was one of the worst and it's a newer one. |

Quite a few teams skirted around the "no practice" rule. Still do apparently. |

EF, I truely believe more kids would stay in rec ball if the all star rules were different. The baseball gods at our "old park" didn't give a crap and most everyone who was any good left. |

Tae, a good amount of kids will be leaving after this spring also. The park is not doing enough to keep the players there. |

Saw the same thing. Knew the team played together for several years with maybe adding a few from rec league for Dizzy Dean district. |
